Research of iron ore grinding in a vertical-roller-mill

Minerals Engineering, 2015
Abstract The total energy consumption for ore comminution will further increase within the next decades. One contribution to minimise the increase is to use more efficient comminution equipment. Vertical-roller-mills (VRM) are an energy-efficient alternative to conventional grinding technology. One reason is the dry in-bed grinding principle. Results

Grinding dynamometer for vertical glass edge grinding machine with V-grinding wheel

IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine, 2014
Grinding force is an important parameter during the grinding process. A grinding dynamometer based on resistance strain gauge technology was developed for the special installation and work conditions of a glass edge grinding machine with a V-grinding wheel.

Modeling of Vertical Micro Grinding

Key Engineering Materials, 2014
Due to the small feed rate used in micro-machining, ploughing force needs to be considered in addition to the chip formation force. A new analytical model has been proposed to calculate cutting forces of micro-grinding process based on the process configuration, work piece material properties, and micro-grinding tool topography.

Mechanics of vertical surface grinding

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1994
Abstract In the present work, the mechanics of chip formation and the wheel-wear phenomenon in vertical surface grinding have been investigated and the performance of the grinding wheel has been evaluated in terms of specific power, specific energy, co-efficient of grinding and grinding ration.

Forces in vertical surface grinding

International Journal of Machine Tool Design and Research, 1968
Abstract The forces between wheel and workpiece under Vertical Grinding conditions have been measured with the aid of a three-dimensional dynamometer. Tests were carried out on mild steel, medium carbon steel, and cast iron specimens using table speeds of 10–85 ft/min and down feeds of 0·0005-0·003 in.

Vertical Spindle Electrochemical Surface Grinding

1972
A short introduction to the operating features of vertical spindle electrochemical grinding is followed by analysis of process electromechanics on the basis of simple dynamic behaviour. Experimental results from grinding tungsten carbide with an ‘Abwood’ machine are illustrated and discussed in comparison with predicted performance.
