REGULATION OF VERTICAL INTEGRATION OF ENTERPRISES: BETWEEN ECONOMIC THEORY AND THE PRACTICE OF LAW

open access: yesEkonomia i Prawo, 2012
Cooperation of companies in the production chain is one of the less frequently discussed issues in economics, both theoretically and practically. Vertical integration of enterprises can take two forms: vertical mergers and vertical restraints, which are ...

Loss-Leaders Banning Laws as Vertical Restraints [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural & Food Industrial Organization, 2005
This paper explores the indirect inflationary mechanism allowed by loss-leaders banning laws. In a model where a monopolist producer sells his product through vertically separated and differentiated retailers, we show that the ban of loss-leading can be used strategically by the producer to increase his wholesale price and pay the retailers through ...

Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Welding deformation analysis based on improved equivalent strain method to cover external constraint during cooling stage

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
In the present study, external restraints imposed normal to the plate during the cooling stage were determined to be effective for reduction of the angular distortion of butt-welded or fillet-welded plate.

A Magneto‐Mechanically Activated Nerve Guidance Conduit Promotes Peripheral Nerve Regeneration via TIMP1‐Mediated Membrane Tension Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a magneto‐mechanical strategy that incorporates FP@MSCs into an aligned PCL/GelMA nerve guidance conduit. Magnetic stimulation increases membrane tension in FP@MSCs, triggering cytoskeletal remodeling, Schwann cell‐like differentiation, and TIMP1 secretion. TIMP1 activates ITGB1/CD63–FAK signaling in NE‐4C cells, increasing membrane

Parity‐Dependent THz Harmonic Generation in Electrically Pumped Micro‐Lasers Exploiting Topological Insulator–Metamaterial Gratings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Topological insulator–metamaterials integrated with electrically driven terahertz quantum cascade lasers enable parity‐dependent harmonic generation. Bulk‐dominated Bi2Se3 favors third‐harmonic emission at 9.96 THz, whereas topological‐surface‐state‐dominated Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3, and (Bi,Sb)2Te3 generate strong second harmonics near 6.5 THz.

1T‐to‐2H Phase Evolution During Epitaxial Growth of Transition Metal Dichalcogenides

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
During MOCVD growth of MoS2 and WSe2, a transient metallic 1T phase emerges in early, edge‐rich, chalcogen‐deficient domains and declines as the films ultimately coalesce as 2H material. Together, experiments and ReaxFF simulations link domain size, edge stoichiometry, and vacancies to this evolution.
