Wind-induced vertical shearing : ALPEX/MEDALPEX data and modelling exercise [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales geophysicae (1983), 1987
The wind-induced vertical shearing in the Northern Adriatic, duc to vorticity in the wind field, has been studied using hydrodynamical numerical model and empirical data collected during ALPEX/MEDALPEX. The influence of heterogeneous wind fields on the currents in the Northern Adriatic during winter has been modelled using climatological wind data for ...

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Study on the influence of topography on wind shear numerical simulations based on WRF–CALMET [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Instrumentation, Methods and Data Systems
This study focuses on the critical issue of low-altitude wind shear, which is vital for aircraft safety during takeoff and landing. Using the WRF–CALMET model, we assess the impact of topography on low-level wind shear at Zhongchuan Airport.

Heat flux scaling in turbulent Rayleigh-B\'enard convection with an imposed longitudinal wind

open access: yes, 2013
We present a numerical study of Rayleigh-B\'enard convection disturbed by a longitudinal wind. Our results show that under the action of the wind, the vertical heat flux through the cell initially decreases, due to the mechanism of plumes-sweeping, and ...

3D‐Printed Sulfur‐Derived Polymers With Controlled Architectures for Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rheology‐guided formulation design for direct ink writing enables the fabrication of 3D sulfur copolymer cathodes with controlled architectures for lithium‐sulfur batteries. The printed electrodes exhibit multiscale porosity and high sulfur utilization, delivering enhanced electrochemical performance compared to conventional cast electrodes.

Non‐Monotonic Convective Response to Vertical Wind Shear: A Closer Look From Cloud Resolving Model Simulations

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
Using a three‐dimensional cloud‐resolving model, a systematic exploration is undertaken of the response of a radiative‐convective equilibrium state to imposed vertical wind shear of varying magnitude.
