Direct measurements of cosmic rays with the calorimetric electron telescope on the international space station

open access: yesSciPost Physics Proceedings, 2023
The CALorimetric Electron Telescope, CALET, has been measuring high-energy cosmic rays on the International Space Station since October 13, 2015. The scientific objectives addressed by the mission are to search for possible nearby sources of high-energy ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Additional acceleration of solar-wind particles in current sheets of the heliosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Particles of fast solar wind in the vicinity of the heliospheric current sheet (HCS) or in a front of interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) often reveal very peculiar energy or velocity profiles, density distributions with double or triple peaks,

Combined Effects of Equatorial Chorus Waves and High‐Latitude Z‐Mode Waves on Saturn's Radiation Belt Electrons

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
In this paper, we examined the combined effects of equatorial chorus waves and high‐latitude Z‐mode waves on the energy and pitch angle distribution of Saturn's radiation belt electrons.

Physics case of the very high energy electron-proton collider, VHEeP [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of XXIV International Workshop on Deep-Inelastic Scattering and Related Subjects — PoS(DIS2016), 2016
The possibility of a very high energy electron-proton (VHEeP) collider with a centre-of-mass energy of 9 TeV has been presented at previous workshops. These proceedings briefly summarise the VHEeP concept, which was recently published, and developments since then, as well as future directions.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The Search for Very High Energy γ-rays from Misaligned AGN [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this work is to study the potential for emission at very high energies (100 GeV) by misaligned active galactic nuclei (AGN) and the future prospects for observations of these objects with the next generation imaging atmospheric Cherenkov ...

Study of the Very High Energy emission of M87 through its broadband spectral energy distribution. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
M87 is a giant radio galaxy, which is the central dominant galaxy of the Virgo Cluster. It is located at a distance of 6.5 Mpc (z = 0.004), and holds a supermassive black hole with a mass estimated in 5.6x10⁹ M๏.

Two-zone model for the broadband Crab nebula spectrum: microscopic interpretation

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
We develop a simple two-zone interpretation of the broadband baseline Crab nebula spectrum between 10−5 eV and ~ 100 TeV by using two distinct log-parabola energetic electrons distributions.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
