MicroRNA Exocytosis by Vesicle Fusion in Neuroendocrine Cells
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are short non-coding RNAs that posttranscriptionally regulate gene expression inside the cell. Extracellular circulating miRNAs are also observed outside the cell, but their origin is poorly understood.

Molecular Mechanisms of Vesicle Fusion [PDF]
We have performed large scale molecular dynamics simulations using coarse-grained lipid models to study the fusion of vesicles. Our earlier work showed that lipid tail splay played an important role in the first lipids to cross from one vesicle to another.

Vesicle transfer and cell fusion [PDF]
Cell-cell fusion and vesicle-mediated transfer are fundamental biological processes that are emerging as novel mechanisms for re-programming cells in the tumor microenvironment. Both cell-cell fusion and intercellular transfer of vesicles (including microvesicles and exosomes) allow for the transfer of information among tumor cells, between tumor cells

A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Aging differentially affects multiple aspects of vesicle fusion kinetics.
How fusion pore formation during exocytosis affects the subsequent release of vesicle contents remains incompletely understood. It is unclear if the amount released per vesicle is dependent upon the nature of the developing fusion pore and whether full ...

Exocytotic fusion pore under stress
Exocytosis is a universal process of eukaryotic cells, consisting of fusion between the vesicle and the plasma membranes, leading to the formation of a fusion pore, a channel through which vesicle cargo exits into the extracellular space.

Room for Two: The Synaptophysin/Synaptobrevin Complex
Synaptic vesicle release is regulated by upwards of 30 proteins at the fusion complex alone, but disruptions in any one of these components can have devastating consequences for neuronal communication. Aberrant molecular responses to calcium signaling at

Vesicle Tethers Promoting Fusion Machinery Assembly [PDF]
In a recent issue of the Journal of Cell Biology, Shorter et al. demonstrate that p115, a vesicle tethering protein, binds specific SNAREs, key components of the membrane fusion machinery, and uncover that this interaction promotes the assembly of the fusion machinery.
