Citrullination of NF‐κB p65 by PAD2 as a Novel Therapeutic Target for Modulating Macrophage Polarization in Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Peptidyl arginine deiminase 2 (PAD2) plays a key role in regulating macrophage function in Pseudomonas aeruginosa‐induced acute lung injury (ALI). Using single‐cell RNA sequencing and proteomics, a new PAD2‐catalyzed citrullination site on NF‐κB p65 (171 Arginine), modulating macrophage polarization is identified.

Listening to the student voice to improve educational software

open access: yesMedical Education Online, 2017
Academics often develop software for teaching and learning purposes with the best of intentions, only to be disappointed by the low acceptance rate of the software by their students once it is implemented. In this study, the focus is on software that was

Sperm‐Derived CircRNA‐1572 Regulates Embryogenesis and Zygotic Genome Activation by Targeting CCNB2 via Bta‐miR‐2478‐L‐2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sperm‐derived circRNA‐1572 competitively binds to bta‐miR‐2478‐L‐2 through a “sponge” mechanism to regulate cyclin B2 (CCNB2) expression, thereby modulating the distribution of fibrous actin (F‐actin) in early pig embryos, ensuring proper chromosome segregation during mitosis, and facilitating normal embryo cleavage and zygotic genome activation.

Developing teachers in veterinary education

open access: yesRed U, 2015
There is increased recognition that teachers in further and higher education should be trained in teaching, learning and assessment to support more effective student learning. However, there are challenges in training these teachers, who are disciplinary

Improving institutional memory on challenges and methods for estimation of pig herd antimicrobial exposure based on data from the Danish Veterinary Medicines Statistics Program (VetStat) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
With the increasing occurrence of antimicrobial resistance, more attention has been directed towards surveillance of both human and veterinary antimicrobial use. Since the early 2000s, several research papers on Danish pig antimicrobial usage have been published, based on data from the Danish Veterinary Medicines Statistics Program (VetStat).

Catheter Injectable Multifunctional Biomaterial for the Treatment of Infected Enterocutaneous Fistulas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multi‐functional shear‐thinning hydrogel is engineered to treat enterocutaneous fistulas. This hydrogel can resist external pressures allowing it to remain within the fistula tract and is shown to have significant antimicrobial, pro‐healing, and anti‐inflammatory properties, which were validated in in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Partnering with veterinary students to enhance clinical workplace learning: development of a learning environment champions initiative

open access: yesJournal of Learning Development in Higher Education
Negative experiences in clinical learning environments (CLEs) lead to long-term consequences such as decreased confidence, reluctance to engage, and attrition from Veterinary programmes (Holt, Farrell and Corrigan, 2023).
