Fishing systems: viability in Nigeria [PDF]
Following an outline of the various fishing systems in Nigeria, considering both the marine and freshwater environment, details are provided of those around which viable sustainable fisheries may be ...

Phenomenological viability of string and M-theory scenarios [PDF]
We analyze the constraints that a correct phenomenology and the absence of dangerous charge and color breaking (CCB) minima or unbounded from below (UFB) directions impose on the parameter space of different superstring and M-theory scenarios. Namely, we

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

In the present study we established in vitro the terms and stages of exogenous development of nematodes of the species Trichuris sylvilagi Tiner, 1950 isolated from Lepus europaeus, and the degree of the nematode viability at different temperatures.

The quality of seeds in gene banks gradually deteriorates during long-term storage, which is probably, at least in part, a result of the progressive development of oxidative stress.

Exploring lipid diversity and minimalism to define membrane requirements for synthetic cells
Designing the lipid membrane of synthetic cells is a complex task, in which its various roles (among them solute transport, membrane protein support, and self‐replication) should all be integrated. In this review, we report the latest top‐down and bottom‐up advances and discuss compatibility and complexity issues of current engineering approaches ...

The influence of carboxymethylcellulose, xanthan and guar-gum addition in bread dough before freezing on metabolism and viability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]
Doughs were prepared with different concentrations of carboxymethylcellulose, xanthan, and guar-gum (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3% in doughs), freezed at -20°C and analyzed after 0, 7, 15 and 30 days. Pure Saccharomyces cerevisiae culture was isolated from dough and

NET Release of Long-Term Surviving Neutrophils
BackgroundNeutrophil extracellular traps (NETs)—as double-edged swords of innate immunity—are involved in numerous processes such as infection, inflammation and tissue repair. Research on neutrophil granulocytes is limited because of their short lifetime

The future of tissue viability [PDF]
As we all attend the annual Wounds UK event in Harrogate, it is probably an ideal time to reflect on the changes over the last twelve months and tissue viability as a specialty service.

Viability is in the Eye of the Beholder…
The term myocardial “viability” in chronic left ventricular (LV) dysfunction due to coronary artery disease has been interpreted in multiple ways by clinicians and imagers alike. The classic definition assesses whether or not the myocardial tissue under consideration is alive or dead. However,
