Vibrations of rapidly rotating N-body systems

Chemical Physics Letters, 1990
Abstract A generalization of the Eckart scheme applicable to N-body systems with arbitrarily large angular velocities is formulated. Its virtue is that it explicitly accounts for centrifugal distortions. As a consequence, it leads to angular momentum-labeled fundamental frequencies of oscillations.

A Duhamel approach for forced vibrations of rotating axisymmetric bodies

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2012
SUMMARYIn this work a novel approach for the determination of the dynamic behaviour of a rotating device subject to forces fixed with respect to a stationary reference system is developed. The procedure can be applied to any axisymmetric rotating structure and it is particularly convenient for components of complex geometry for which an accurate ...

A many‐body diagrammatic theory of rotation–vibration spectra

International Journal of Quantum Chemistry, 1989
AbstractA many‐body diagrammatic perturbation theory of rotation–vibration spectra is elaborated. The present approach is based on two many‐body techniques, namely on the second quantization formalism (a rotating–vibrating molecule is formally treated here as a system of interacting vibrons, obeying the Bose–Einstein statistics) and the many‐body ...

Space-fixed formulation for the vibration of rotating, prestressed, axisymmetric bodies and shells

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2021
Abstract The vibration of high-speed, rotating, three-dimensional, flexible, axisymmetric bodies coupled to stationary structures motivates this work. Exploiting the axisymmetry of the body, a semi-analytical model is developed that only discretizes the two-dimensional radial cross-section; Fourier series are used in the circumferential direction ...

In-plane vibration of a rigid body attached to a flexible rotating beam

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2020
Abstract The dynamics of rotating systems are conventionally analyzed using models that assume the axis of rotation to be stationary. However, in instances such as helicopters and gas turbines with contra-rotating rotors such models which neglect the complexity arising from the coupling between the stator and the rotor due to their comparable masses ...

Forced Vibration of a Rotating Elastic Body

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1952
In a previous paper the writer has shown how equations for the free vibration of a rotating body may be obtained; in the present paper the inclusion of forcing terms in the equations is allowed for, and the effect of damping forces within the body and also in the medium in which the body rotates is considered.
