Electro-mechanical coupling of rotating 3D beams

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
A rotating thin-walled beam with piezoelectric element is analysed. The beam is considered to vibrate in space, hence the longitudinal, transverse and torsional deformations are taken into account.

Dynamics of Rotating Multi-component Turbomachinery Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
The ultimate objective of turbomachinery vibration analysis is to predict both the overall, as well as component dynamic response. To accomplish this objective requires complete engine structural models, including multistages of bladed disk assemblies ...

A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

Accurate one dimensional beam modeling method for a rotor shaft with stepped cross-sections in the finite element method

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
The bending stiffness at the stepped cross-section of a rotor decreases in accordance with the elasticity in the face of the cross-section. This study proposes a method to deal with this decrease in bending stiffness in one dimensional (1D) beam modeling.

A survey of expert opinion on the effects of occupational exposures to trunk rotation and whole-body vibration [PDF]

open access: yesErgonomics, 2014
We present a review of current expert opinion on the effects of combined exposures to trunk rotation and whole-body vibration (WBV), commonly experienced by operators of agricultural machinery. We evaluate the level of agreement between academic experts in the field of ergonomics, human response to WBV and agricultural operators, on the effects of ...

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Formulation and experimental validation of a frequency transfer function of a rotor system with both an open crack and anisotropic support stiffness

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
This paper proposes a transfer function of rotating shaft system considering both an open crack and anisotropy in bearing support stiffness, which are both fundamental characteristics often observed in the rotating machinery.
