The development of biomolecular Raman optical activity spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Following its first observation over 40 years ago, Raman optical activity (ROA), which may be measured as a small difference in the intensity of vibrational Raman scattering from chiral molecules in right- and left-circularly polarized incident light or,

Multispectral Chiral Quasi‐Bound States in the Continuum Enabled Microfluidics for High‐Throughput Molecular Screening and Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 47, December 18, 2025.
A microfluidics‐integrated chiral quasi‐BIC metachip is developed that generates strong broadband CD from 0.5–2.0 THz in aqueous environments. A UMAP algorithm processes the resulting multidimensional CD features for simultaneous biomolecular conformation identification and concentration quantification (0.05–0.3 mg dL−1).

Multichannel array detection of vibrational optical activity free-induction-decay

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Science and Technology, 2010
By introducing a multichannel array detector to vibrational optical activity free-induction-decay (VOA FID) measurement spectrometer, we successfully measured the vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectrum of (1S)-β-pinene.

On the Absolute Stereochemistry of Tolterodine: A Circular Dichroism Study

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2019
Tolterodine (1) is a potent muscarinic receptor antagonist used in the treatment of overactive urinary bladder (OAB) syndrome. Tolterodine is chiral and it was patented, and is currently marketed, as the l-tartrate salt of the (R)-enantiomer.

Chiral Lanthanide Complexes with l- and d-Alanine: An X-ray and Vibrational Circular Dichroism Study

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
A whole series of [Ln(H2O)4(Ala)2]26+ dimeric cationic lanthanide complexes with both l- and d-alanine enantiomers was synthesized. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 100 and 292 K shows the formation of two types of dimers (I and II) in crystals ...

Synthesis and Characterization of (R)‐ and (S)‐1,1′‐Bi‐2‐Naphtholato Coordinated Gallium(III) Porphyrins and Their Chiroptical Properties

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 32, November 10, 2025.
Gallium porphyrins bearing chiral bi‐2‐naphtholato ligands are synthesized and characterized. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction and various spectroscopic analyses confirmed their structures. Circular dichroism spectroscopy revealed a Cotton effect corresponding to the absorption band of the achiral porphyrin core.

Asymmetric Synthesis of Spirooxindoles via Nucleophilic Epoxidation Promoted by Bifunctional Organocatalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Taking into account the postulated reaction mechanism for the organocatalytic epoxidation of electron-poor olefins developed by our laboratory, we have investigated the key factors able to positively influence the H-bond network installed inside the ...

Terahertz Raman Optical Activity Reveals Emergent Supramolecular Chirality in Mononucleotide G‐quadruplexes

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 5, Issue 11, November 2025.
Self‐assembly of guanosine‐5′‐monophosphate into G‐quadruplexes induces a cation‐specific (sodium vs. potassium), intense terahertz Raman optical activity signal. The supramolecular helical arrangement gives rise to a distinct chiral vibrational signature in the low‐frequency region.
