Influence of vibratory stimuli on postural muscle tone adjustments and sensation of discomfort in seated posture

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Prolonged sitting in an automotive context causes discomfort, neuromuscular fatigue, poor blood flow, and potential health issues. Minor posture changes can improve comfort and spinal health, but drivers are constrained by the need for seat stability and

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

An Interface ASIC for MEMS Vibratory Gyroscopes with Nonlinear Driving Control

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
This paper proposes an interface application-specific-integrated-circuit (ASIC) for micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) vibratory gyroscopes. A closed self-excited drive loop is employed for automatic amplitude stabilization based on peak detection ...

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Prepontine non-giant neurons drive flexible escape behavior in zebrafish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Many species execute ballistic escape reactions to avoid imminent danger. Despite fast reaction times, responses are often highly regulated, reflecting a trade-off between costly motor actions and perceived threat level.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Amplitude and frequency control of a vibratory pile driver [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
—This paper describes the digital control of a vibratory pile driver in which the vibration is generated via two tandem pairs of electrically driven, geared, contra-rotating eccentrics.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

A Study on the Analysis of the Ground Compaction Effect According to the Roller Operation Method through CMV Analysis Using IC Rollers

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2023
In road construction, the compaction process using vibratory rollers is essential to increase the ground stiffness in earthworks. There need to be clear standards regarding the operation of compaction rollers during compaction work.
