Phylogenetic relationships among Vibrio anguillarum plasmids
Plasmid, 1984Results of restriction endonuclease analysis and Southern blot hybridization suggest that the R-plasmids from Vibrio anguillarum strains isolated in Japan can be divided into at least four groups of homology depending on the time of their isolation and geographical source.

Characterization of ferric-anguibactin transport in Vibrio anguillarum
BioMetals, 2007The fish pathogen Vibrio anguillarum is the causative agent of a fatal hemorrhagic septicemia in salmonid fish. Many serotype O1 strains harbors a 65 Kbp plasmid (pJM1 encoding an iron sequestering system essential for virulence. The genes involved in the biosynthesis of the indigenous siderophore anguibactin are encoded by both the pJM1 plasmid and ...

Immunological studies on Vibrio anguillarum
Aquaculture, 1977Abstract Nineteen strains of Vibrio anguillarum were examined by means of several immunological methods. Nine other strains belonging to the genera Vibrio, Aeromonas and Pseudomonas were also examined for comparison. Lipopolysaccharides were prepared from seven of the V. anguillarum strains.

Norwegian reference strains of Vibrio anguillarum
Aquaculture, 1977Abstract Strains of Vibrio anguillarum isolated from rainbow trout ( Salmo gairdneri ) and saithe ( Gadus virens ) have been studied and compared, and strains to be used for further investigations are described.

Actinonin resistance of pathogenic Vibrio anguillarum in aquaculture
Aquaculture, 2021Abstract Drug-resistant bacteria are an increasingly serious threat to the aquaculture industry. In order to develop new methods to combat these bacteria, it is necessary to first understand their mechanisms of drug resistance. We previously isolated a potential probiotic strain, Streptomyces sp. NHF165, which produced cytotoxic actinonin against the

Plasmid-mediated iron uptake and virulence in Vibrio anguillarum
Plasmid, 2002The plasmid pJM1 of Vibrio anguillarum harbors genes encoding proteins that enable the bacterial cell to survive under iron limiting conditions. A subset of these proteins are involved in the biosynthesis of the siderophore anguibactin and in the internalization of the ferric-siderophore into the cell cytosol.

PATHOGENICITY OF VIBRIO ANGUILLARUM IN FISH
1981This dissertation. reports the first detailed study of the possible pathogenic mechanisms and virulence determinants of the fish pathogen V. anguillarum carried out in association with histo-pathological studies using electron microscopy and electrocardiography In addition, possible infection route (s) were investigated and the effect of environmental ...

Visualisation of Zebrafish infection by GFP-labelled Vibrio anguillarum
Microbial Pathogenesis, 2004Vibrio anguillarum is an invasive pathogen of fish causing a septicaemia called vibriosis. In this work, transparent zebrafish were immersed in water containing green fluorescent protein labelled V. anguillarum. The infection was visualised at the whole fish and single bacterium levels using microscopy.

Crystal structures of the isochorismatase domains from Vibrio anguillarum
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2017Antibiotic resistance is becoming a global threat and overuse of antibiotics in aquaculture disease control worsens the situation. To reduce the risk of drug resistance developed in aquaculture, safer biocontrol programs are needed. Antivirulence therapy, with less chance for developing drug resistance, is a promising approach.

DETECTION OF VIBRIO ANGUILLARUM ANTIGEN BY THE DOT BLOT ASSAY
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1985The dot blot assay, modified and adapted for detection of antigens from Vibrio anguillarum in fish tissues, was specific for V. anguillarum and did not react with antigens of V. ordalii, Pseudomonas sp., or Yersinia ruckeri. The blot assay enabled detection of as little as 2.3 ng of a mixture of protein antigens obtained from cell-free extracts of V ...
