Decoding the Black Box of Fish Vaccines Efficacy in Basic and Applied Contexts
ABSTRACT Vaccines are the frontline defense in aquaculture, yet predicting their real‐world performance remains a tricky puzzle. Unlike terrestrial veterinary vaccines, fish vaccines largely operate through “Black Box” processes, where we observe the outcomes but rarely understand the underlying immune mechanisms. Laboratory trials, though informative,

Toxicity of extracellular products of Vibrio anguillarum.
Vibrio anguillarum produced heat labile(70°C, 10 min) exotoxin lethal to goldfish, Japanese eel, ayu and mouse when injected. The extracellular products(ECP)from cellophane plate cultures(nutrient agar or BHI agar)at 20°Cor 25°Cfor 18-36 h were toxic, but not in 24 h BHI broth culture at 25°C.

ABSTRACT In this study, we investigated the immunomodulatory effects of St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) oil on the growth performance, immune responses and resistance against Lactococcus garvieae in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The plant oil was incorporated into feeds at concentrations of 1, 3, and 5 g kg−1, designated as K1, K3, and K5,

Comparative Serology of the Marine Fish Pathogen Vibrio anguillarum [PDF]
The different serotyping systems, based on thermostable O antigens, reported for Vibrio anguillarum and V. ordalii were compared by quantitative agglutination, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and subsequent silver staining or Western blotting (immunoblotting) of purified lipopolysaccharide (LPS), using polyclonal rabbit ...

ABSTRACT Spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) is a contagious pathogen associated with significant mortality and economic losses in freshwater aquaculture. Although reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT‐qPCR) enables rapid detection, it does not distinguish between infectious and non‐infectious viral particles, which may lead to overestimation of ...

An extracellular protease produced by Vibrio anguillarum.
The toxicity of extracellular products (ECP) of Vibrlo anguillarum proved to consist in a protease. The extracellular protease was purified by precipitation with ammonium sulfate and gel filtration, and it showed the following characteristics:1. The LD ??

ABSTRACT Infectious salmon anaemia virus (ISAV) can cause disease and mortality in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). The virus is endemic in several regions including the Atlantic coast of Canada. Lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) are increasingly utilised as cleaner fish to control sea lice levels in Atlantic salmon farms.

Serum Antibody against Vibrio anguillarum in cultured Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
In order to determine the concentration of the antibodies against the pathogenic Vibrio anguillarum, three hundred blood samples were taken from 9-12 month old cultured rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in 4 farms in the north and west region of Fars ...
