Equivalent linearisation of vibro-impact systems

1998
When we constructed exact solutions we took one mathematical model to describe motion between impacts and another for the instant of collision. The first we described by linear differential equations; and the second using finite expressions from stereomechanical impact theory, used as the boundary conditions of the process.

Vocal Folds as a vibro-impacts system

1999
A model for human vocal folds in the form of two spring-suspended plates, which can collide with one another, is considered. It is shown that due to air flow between the plates excitation of chaotic self-oscillations occurs. In this process the shape of oscillations of air flow volume velocity was found to be close to observed experimentally.

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF A TWO-DEGREE-OF-FREEDOM VIBRO-IMPACT SYSTEM

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2012
Vibro-impact systems with intermittent contacts are strongly nonlinear. The discontinuity of impact can give rise to rich nonlinear dynamic behaviors and bring forth challenges in the modeling and analysis of this type of nonsmooth systems. The dynamical behavior of a two-degree-of-freedom vibro-impact system is investigated experimentally in this ...

Vibro-Impacts of a Piecewise-Linear System With a Clearance

Volume 9: 20th International Conference on Multibody Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control (MSNDC)
Abstract Vibro-impacts are commonly observed in various engineering systems as a consequence of clearances they possess. Such motions are known to cause excessive noise issues posing a challenge in the design of such systems. Many of these systems can be formulated into a single-degree-of-freedom piecewise-linear system excited by force ...

Oscillation Reconstruction and Bifurcation Analysis of a Drillbit–Rock Vibro-Impact System

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2017
A drillbit–rock vibro-impact system with a linear rock contact law is considered in this paper. This system is a simplified model to study the drillbit oscillation in a percussive drilling system. The main purpose of this work is to explore the optimized vibration condition of the drillbit to improve the drilling efficiency in practical drilling ...

Stability improvement of the vibro-impact discrete systems

1999
In this work a control of the one- and two-degree-of-freedom vibro-impact systems with a delay loop is presented and analysed. The aim of the delay loop application is to make the return to the vibro-impact periodic motion after the occurrence of disturbances quicker than in the case without the loop.
