Vibrotactile Stimuli for Distinction of Virtual Constraints and Environment Feedback

2014
In virtual reality and teleoperation scenarios, active constraints can be used to guide a user, prevent him from entering forbidden regions, and assist him in general. On a haptic interface, this implies superimposing the forces generated by the active constraints on top of the forces that are generated by the environment (real or virtual).

A Vibrotactile Feedback Device for Seated Balance Assessment and Training

Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2019
Postural perturbations, motion tracking, and sensory feedback are modern techniques used to challenge, assess, and train upright sitting, respectively. The goal of the developed protocol is to construct and operate a sitting platform that can be passively destabilized while an inertial measurement unit quantifies its motion and vibrating elements ...

Vibrotactile feedback and visual cues for arm posture replication

2011 IEEE 5th International Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics (RAM), 2011
For rehabilitation applications using multiple types of feedback can help speed up posture correction of the subject - visual cues are particularly helpful in providing global information to the subjects. This paper presents a system that aids students to mimic a master's arm posture using vibrotactile feedback and visual cues.

Freeing the visual channel by exploiting vibrotactile BCI feedback

2013 35th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2013
Controlling a brain-actuated device requires the participant to look at and to split his attention between the interaction of the device with its environment and the status information of the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). Such parallel visual tasks are partly contradictory, with the goal of achieving a good and natural device control.

Design of a vibrotactile feedback virtual testbed

CCECE '97. Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Engineering Innovation: Voyage of Discovery. Conference Proceedings, 2002
This paper presents the software infrastructure design for a virtual environment testbed that provides vibrotactile feedback. The process involved identifying system requirements and constraints from an experimental design, the selection of system components, and the development of software modules. The infrastructure interfaces with hardware input and
