The Rhizobium GstI Protein Reduces the NH4+ Assimilation Capacity of Rhizobium leguminosarum

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2001
We show that the protein encoded by the glutamine synthetase translational inhibitor (gstI) gene reduces the NH4+ assimilation capacity of Rhizobium leguminosarum.

First Report of Ascochyta Blight of Vicia hirsuta (Hairy Tare) in the Republic of Georgia Caused by Ascochyta sp

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2006
Tan lesions with dark margins containing concentric rings of black pycnidia were observed on leaves and pods of hairy tare (Vicia hirsuta L.) growing near Ateni, GA (41°54.631′N, 44°05.586′E, elev. 730 m) on 1 July 2004. Lesions were reminiscent of those induced by Ascochyta rabiei (Pass.) Labrousse on chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.).

Transgenic Root Nodules ofVicia hirsuta:A Fast and Efficient System for the Study of Gene Expression in Indeterminate-Type Nodules

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1993
The Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated transformation of Vicia hirsuta resulted in the induction of transgenic 'hairy roots' on wounded epicotyls of young seedlings. As soon as the 'hairy roots' had developed enough, the original wild-type roots were excised and composite plants were thus established that consisted of transgenic roots on untransformed ...

Systematics, biogeography, and character evolution of the legume tribe Fabeae with special focus on the middle-Atlantic island lineages

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2012
Background Tribe Fabeae comprises about 380 legume species, including some of the most ancient and important crops like lentil, pea, and broad bean. Breeding efforts in legume crops rely on a detailed knowledge of closest wild relatives and geographic ...

Combination of different methods for direct control of Vicia hirsuta in winter wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Combinations of three different direct methods for controlling Vicia hirsuta (kainite application, flame weeding and harrowing) were investigated in field experiments. They were based on different strategies at early growth stages of V.

Degradation of Dyes by Fungi: A Bibliometric Study and Bibliographic Review

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 3, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT The degradation of dyes from textile effluents is considered a major challenge due to their high potential for environmental contamination and health risks due to their toxicity. In this sense, the use of fungi for the degradation of these compounds is reported in the literature as an ecological alternative with great potential.

The Promoter of the Vicia faba L. Leghemoglobin Gene VfLb29 Is Specifically Activated in the Infected Cells of Root Nodules and in the Arbuscule-Containing Cells of Mycorrhizal Roots from Different Legume and Nonlegume Plants

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2004
The VfLb29 leghemoglobin gene promoter was polymerase chain reaction-amplified from a Vicia faba genomic library and was fused to the gusAint coding region. Expression of the chimeric gene was analyzed in transgenic hairy roots of the legumes V. faba, V.
