Flavanone 3-hydroxylase (F3H) Expression and Flavonoid Localization in Nodules of Three Legume Plants Reveal Distinct Tissue Specificities

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1998
A fusion of the promoter of the Medicago sativa flavanone-3-hydroxylase gene to the gus reporter gene was introduced into three leguminous plants, M. truncatula, M. sativa subsp. varia, and Vicia hirsuta.

A Rhizobium leguminosarum Biovar trifolii Locus Not Localized on the Sym Plasmid Hinders Effective Nodulation on Plants of the Pea Cross-Inoculation Group

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1997
Introduction of the Sym plasmid pRL1JI into the cured Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii strain RCR5 resulted in a strain, designated RBL5523, that was expected to nodulate plants of the pea cross-inoculation group.

Nutrient limitation of native and invasive N2-fixing plants in northwest prairies. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Nutrient rich conditions often promote plant invasions, yet additions of non-nitrogen (N) nutrients may provide a novel approach for conserving native symbiotic N-fixing plants in otherwise N-limited ecosystems.

Karyotype Analysis inVicia Hirsuta(L.) S. F. Gray andVicia MeyeriBoiss.

open access: yesCaryologia, 1983
SUMMARYResults of a preliminary karyological study of bulgarian populations of Vicia hirsuta and V. meyeri are reported. Diploid chromosome number 2n = 2x=14 was observed in all populations studied. The karyotypes of the two species are characterized by quite similar chromosome types and a high level of symmetry.
