A Rhizobium leguminosarum Biovar trifolii Locus Not Localized on the Sym Plasmid Hinders Effective Nodulation on Plants of the Pea Cross-Inoculation Group

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1997
Introduction of the Sym plasmid pRL1JI into the cured Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii strain RCR5 resulted in a strain, designated RBL5523, that was expected to nodulate plants of the pea cross-inoculation group.

Karyotype Analysis inVicia Hirsuta(L.) S. F. Gray andVicia MeyeriBoiss.

open access: yesCaryologia, 1983
SUMMARYResults of a preliminary karyological study of bulgarian populations of Vicia hirsuta and V. meyeri are reported. Diploid chromosome number 2n = 2x=14 was observed in all populations studied. The karyotypes of the two species are characterized by quite similar chromosome types and a high level of symmetry.

Nutrient limitation of native and invasive N2-fixing plants in northwest prairies. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Nutrient rich conditions often promote plant invasions, yet additions of non-nitrogen (N) nutrients may provide a novel approach for conserving native symbiotic N-fixing plants in otherwise N-limited ecosystems.

Nutrients Supplementation through Organic Manures Influence the Growth of Weeds and Maize Productivity

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Declining rate of productivity and environmental sustainability is forcing growers to use organic manures as a source of nutrient supplement in maize farming. However, weed is a major constraint to maize production. A field study was carried out over two

Nodule-Expressed Cyp15a Cysteine Protease Genes Map to Syntenic Genome Regions in Pisum and Medicago spp.

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2000
PsCyp15a is a gene that encodes a vacuolar cysteine protease expressed in wilt-induced shoots of Pisum sativum (pea) and in root nodules. To further the understanding of nodular PsCyp15a expression, a region 5′ to the coding sequence of the gene was ...
