The cytogenetic structure of Vicia sativa aggregate

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1978
The cytogenetic structure of Vicia sativa aneuploid series was assessed by examination of the chromosome pairing in hybrids between types having 2n = 10, 2n = 12 and 2n = 14. Two different karyotypes were distinguished at both the 2n = 10 and 2n = 12 levels.

Biosynthesis of β-Cyanoalanine in Vicia sativa

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1971
Administration of cysteine-U-14C to Vicia sativa at the time of seed maturation resulted in extensive labeling of β-cyanoalanine. As extensive incorporation also occurred when cysteine-U-14C was given to the pods through the cut ends of their stalks, it is suggested that the synthesis of β-cyanoalanine takes place in this tissue. The effect of cyanide

Multivariate analysis of the Vicia sativa L. aggregate

Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 1993
The sativa group of species was studied by using multivariate analysis and karyological analysis. Thirty biometrical characters were studied by using 92 Vicia sativa L. accessions from a variety of geographical sources. The four main taxa analysed were: sativa, macrocarpa, cordata and angustifolia. Principal component analysis provided clear separation

Autoregulation of Nodulation in Vicia sativa Ssp. NIGRA

1998
Leguminous plants such as pea and vetch (Vicia sativa ssp. nigra) are able to control the number of Rhizobium-induced root nodules per plant. This property is called “autoregulation of nodulation”, and represents a feedback response to development of the first nodules.
