Cytogenetic Diversity and Characterization of Vicia sativa Subspecies
LEGUME RESEARCH - AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL, 2020Background: Vicia sativa L. is variable genus comprised of several subspecies. Close relative species and subspecies of the cultivated species are easily usable gene sources because they have gained resistance against a wide range of biotic and abiotic stresses.

Purification and partial characterization of a mitogenic lectin from vicia sativa
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1979From the seeds of Vicia sativa a lectin has been purified by affinity chromatography on Sephadex G-100, followed by specific elution with D-glucose. The lectin is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 70 000. The aminoacid composition and the total sugar content have been determined.

Genomic Organization of Ribosomal DNA and Karyotypic Diversity in Vicia sativa and Vicia villosa
Cytogenetic and Genome ResearchIntroduction: Common vetch (Vicia sativa) and hairy vetch (Vicia. villosa) are characterized by rapid growth and high biomass yield, making them suitable as high-quality forage and silage. They are also widely used as green manure crops to improve soil fertility and restore ecosystems, playing a significant role in sustainable agriculture. Both species

The objectives of this study were to determine the seed dormancy and germination characteristics of F5 strains from common vetch x big seeded vetch hybrids. White flowered common vetch accessions and red-flowered accessions were crossed and a totally 24 high forage and seed yielding strains were developed from F5 generation of different hybrid ...
