Human Root Dentin: Structural Anisotropy and Vickers Microhardness Isotropy

Connective Tissue Research, 1998
The demanding mechanical functions and the variable structure of dentin make it an invaluable material for studying the structure-mechanical function relations of a mineralized collagen-containing tissue. The mineralized collagen fibril axes in human root dentin are mainly located on the incremental plane.

Vickers microhardness of ceramic coatings for thermal contact conductance - Microhardness models with experimental comparison

32nd Thermophysics Conference, 1997
In the present study, models developed to predict the composite hardness of a film-substrate system have been compared to unpublished experimental Vickers microhardness measurements for several ceramic coatings. These coatings were at various thicknesses, deposited on an aluminum 6101-T6 substrate.

The relationship between vickers microhardness and compressive strength of functional surface geopolymers

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
An experimental study to investigate the relationship between Vickers microhardness and compressive strength of geopolymers made from metakaolin has been conducted. Samples were prepared by using metakaolin activated with a sodium silicate solution at a different ratio of Si to Al and Na to Al and cured at 70°C for one hour.

The evaluation of the structure and hardness of processed plastics by the Vickers microhardness test

Colloid and Polymer Science, 1977
The Vickers microhardness test has been used as an additional tool for the determination of the microstructure of an injection moulded semicrystalline thermoplastic. The results show for the first time that there is a clear and well defined correlation between microhardness measurements and changes in preferred orientation through the thickness of the ...

Relative contact pressure - Dependence on surface roughness and Vickers microhardness

Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer, 1988
An explicit expression for the contact hardness and the relative contact pressure is developed. This expression is simple and clearly shows the dependence of the contact hardness and the relative contact pressure upon the Vickers microhardness correlation coefficients and the surface roughness parameters.

Vickers microhardness studies of l-arginine halide mixed crystals

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2003
Abstract Vickers microhardness of mixed crystals of l -arginine hydrochloride monohydrate (LAHCl) and l -arginine hydrobromide monohydrate (LAHBr) has been measured on the (100) cleavage plane for various compositions and correlated with dislocation density. Both the Vickers microhardness and dislocation density of as grown crystals are found to be

The Vickers Microhardness and Pendulum Hardness of Polycrystalline Lanthanide Dicarbides

1980
Almost no data on the mechanical properties of lanthanide dicarbides exist, the available data being limited to a brief report by Krikorian on the Knoop microhardness(1). One aim of this work was to extend the Krikorian data.

Vickers microhardness evaluation of multilayer platings for electrical contacts

Electrical Contacts - 1991 Proceedings of the Thirty-Seventh IEEE HOLM Conference on Electrical Contacts, 1991
A test procedure is described which utilizes the composite microhardness rendered by a superficial Vickers test. At moderate loads (typically P=100 and 200 g) the superficial hardness reading yields information on the concerted influences (thicknesses and hardnesses) of all the films deposited over the substrate.

Effect of curing time on Vickers microhardness of bulk-fill materials

Dental Materials, 2014
Purpose: To compare the total light energy transmission (J/cm2) through bulk fill composite materials (BFMs) and Vickers microhardness (VH) when cured with a single peak LED LCU at two different exposure times. Methods and materials: Two viscous BFMs, Tetric EvoCeram Bulkfil (Ivoclar Vivadent) [TBF], XtraFil (Voco) [XF], and two flowable BFMs, Surefil ...

Vicker’s microhardness of Bi1−xSbx (x = 0.05–0.30) crystals

Journal of Materials Science, 2009
The solid–liquid interface of Bi1−xSbx crystal growth is very favorable for investigations of electron–phonon phenomena. Bismuth is a semimetal with high electron and hole mobilities. When Bi is doped with Sb in the range of 7–22 atomic percentage, it undergoes semimetal–semiconductor transition.
