Many image processing and computer vision applications have difficulty dealing with a nonstatic background such as water waves, but this particular dynamic scene actually contains enough information to reveal much more than a static scene. In this paper, we propose a method to determine real world scale as well as other factors, including wave height ...

We address the problem of how the saccadic behavior of biological observers interacts with either unchanging and suddenly appearing elements in the scene. We show how the optical flow information can be exploited to compute an alerting map, which is then used together with a static conspicuity map to generate gaze shifts.

Proceedings of the 1st ACM workshop on Analysis and retrieval of events/actions and workflows in video streams, 2008
Detection of events and actions in video entails substantial processing of very large, even open-ended, video streams. The video information retrieval community has substantially focused on a single frame approach for retrieval and classification tasks.

2006 12th International Multi-Media Modelling Conference, 2006
Summary form only given. Techniques of computer and Internet are developing very fast, and users want to access their interested multimedia information from anywhere at anytime by using their most convenient digital equipments. Sports video always appeals to large audiences, and it becomes an important problem to automatically extracting useful ...

Proceedings of the 18th ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2010
This workshop aims at tackling the novel challenging scenarios in pervasive video analysis which require not only to address specific problems (e.g., tracking, recognition) on a single view, but to deal with a set of distributed observations, eventually integrated with subjective mobile video streams.

Structural and semantic analysis of video
2000 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. ICME2000. Proceedings. Latest Advances in the Fast Changing World of Multimedia (Cat. No.00TH8532), 2002We discuss our recent research and open issues in structural and semantic analysis of digital video. Specifically, we focus on segmentation, summarization and classification of digital video. In each area, we also emphasize the importance of understanding domain-specific characteristics.

A system for endobronchial video analysis
SPIE Proceedings, 2017Image-guided bronchoscopy is a critical component in the treatment of lung cancer and other pulmonary disorders. During bronchoscopy, a high-resolution endobronchial video stream facilitates guidance through the lungs and allows for visual inspection of a patient’s airway mucosal surfaces. Despite the detailed information it contains, little effort has

Video Analysis for Includification Requirements
Proceedings of the 17th International ACM SIGACCESS Conference on Computers & Accessibility - ASSETS '15, 2015In extensive trials we asked participants with disabilities to play a set of computer games, demanding a variety of cognitive and physical skills. In particular we presented a Tetris variant we developed ourselves, which follows various includification guidelines.

Video Quality Analysis for Concert Video Mashup Generation
2010Videos recorded by the audience in a concert provide natural and lively views from different angles. However, such recordings are generally incomplete and suffer from low signal quality due to poor lighting conditions and use of hand-held cameras. It is our objective to create an enriched video stream by combining high-quality segments from multiple ...
