Sports video analysis and structuring
2001 IEEE Fourth Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (Cat. No.01TH8564), 2002We propose a new method for structuring and analyzing sports video through clustering of video shots based on low-level visual content. The dominant scenes of a sports video are first automatically extracted by using the color features derived from its video shots.

Video corpus construction and analysis
Systems and Computers in Japan, 2002AbstractIn this paper, we propose a method of handling videos based on the construction and analysis of a video corpus containing a large volume of video data and attributes. A video corpus was constructed by coding videos of a total length of approximately 180 hours by the MPEG‐2 standard and adding attributes, such as automatically extracted ...

An Analysis of Video Lecture in MOOC [PDF]
Video is a content delivery form used for delivering lecture content in Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). While institutions plan to launch MOOC on their own platform or adapt an existing one, there is a need to specify the features required for video lecture in MOOC.

Analysis of Utility Functions for Video
2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007In this paper, we formulate the utility functions of distortion and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) which are generally used for the performance evaluation of video coding applications as the utility functions. The convexity property of these utility functions is analyzed in the original domain and transformed domain of an optimization variable. From

Video corpus construction and analysis
Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Multimedia Computing and Systems, 2003This paper proposes video corpus analysis as a new approach to video handling. The purpose of this approach is to discover frequent and characteristic video expressions from a large amount of video data. A video corpus has been built and currently consists of about 180 hours of MPEG-2 encoded video data, automatically extracted characteristics, and ...

Multimedia Analysis of Video Sources
Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Multimedia Applications, 2014Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) spend increasing efforts and resources on monitoring open sources, searching for suspicious behaviours and crime clues. The task of efficiently and effectively monitoring open sources is strongly linked to the capability of automatically retrieving and analyzing multimedia data. This paper presents a multimodal analytics

Invariance in motion analysis of videos
Proceedings of the eleventh ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2003In this paper, we propose an approach that retrieves motion of objects from the videos based on the dynamic time warping of view invariant characteristics. The motion is represented as a sequence of dynamic instants and intervals, which are automatically computed using the spatiotemporal curvature of the trajectory of moving object in the videos ...

Video object trajectory analysis
Proceedings. International Conference on Image Processing, 2003This article proposes a new method which allows the detection of variations of orientation of video object due to rotations around axis parallel to the image plane. For that purpose, the video object sequence is decomposed into temporal segments separated by key instants.

Video-based Content Analysis (VCA) is a qualitative method whose aim is the examination of manifest and latent meaning of communication documented via audiovisual data. The method enables access to the subjective reality of life and provides a broad understanding of the causes of human thinking, acting, and feeling.

Video alignment for phylogenetic analysis
2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2016The possibility of studying multiple objects at once for forensic analysis has paved the way to the development of multimedia phylogeny algorithms. Concerning video phylogeny, a fundamental step at the base of many applications is multiple video alignment.
