Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

A Generalized Pyramid Matching Kernel for Human Action Recognition in Realistic Videos

open access: yesSensors, 2013
Human action recognition is an increasingly important research topic in the fields of video sensing, analysis and understanding. Caused by unconstrained sensing conditions, there exist large intra-class variations and inter-class ambiguities in realistic

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.

Classification for Human Balance Capacity Based on Visual Stimulation under a Virtual Reality Environment

open access: yesSensors, 2019
The normal and disordered people balance ability classification is a key premise for rehabilitation training. This paper proposes a multi-barycentric area model (MBAM), which can be applied for accurate video analysis based classification. First, we have

Analysis of watermarking techniques in video [PDF]

open access: yes2011 11th International Conference on Hybrid Intelligent Systems (HIS), 2011
Video piracy has become an increasing problem particularly with the proliferation of media sharing through the advancement of internet services and various storage technologies. Thus, research in copyright protection mechanisms, where one of which includes digital watermarking has been receiving an increasing interest from scientists especially in ...

Multidimensional Profiling of MRI‐Negative Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Uncovers Distinct Phenotypes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although hippocampal sclerosis (TLE‐HS) represents the most frequent cause of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), up to 30% of patients show no lesion on visual MRI inspection (TLE‐MRIneg). These cases pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and are underrepresented in surgical series.

How musical engagement promotes well-being in education contexts: The case of a young man with profound and multiple disabilities

open access: yesInternational Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health & Well-Being, 2013
Students with profound intellectual disabilities disorders (IDDs) have the right to participate in educational opportunities that recognize their unique resources and needs, as do all children. Because of their specific communication challenges, positive

Video-Based Pulse Rate Variability Measurement Using Periodic Variance Maximization and Adaptive Two-Window Peak Detection

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Many previous studies have shown that the remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) can measure the Heart Rate (HR) signal with very high accuracy. The remote measurement of the Pulse Rate Variability (PRV) signal is also possible, but this is much more ...

Event-based analysis of video [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2001 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. CVPR 2001, 2005
Dynamic events can be regarded as long-term temporal objects, which are characterized by spatio-temporal features at multiple temporal scales. Based on this, we design a simple statistical distance measure between video sequences (possibly of different lengths) based on their behavioral content. This measure is non-parametric and can thus handle a wide
