Enhanced Deep Animation Video Interpolation

open access: yes2022 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2022
Existing learning-based frame interpolation algorithms extract consecutive frames from high-speed natural videos to train the model. Compared to natural videos, cartoon videos are usually in a low frame rate. Besides, the motion between consecutive cartoon frames is typically nonlinear, which breaks the linear motion assumption of interpolation ...

Mapping Proton‐Coupled Electron Transfer With Real Space Coordinates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We explore how proton‐coupled electron transfer (PCET) proceeds on a potential energy surface defined by two coordinates for proton and electron transfer that are obtained from quantum chemical calculations. The two‐dimensional maps for PCET show distinct characteristics for concerted proton–electron transfer and hydrogen atom transfer.

Spontaneous Long‐Range Order and Alignment in Phase‐Separated Dynamic Covalent Networks Using Discrete Siloxanes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Spontaneously aligned, long‐range hexagonal columnar ordering is obtained in phase‐separated dynamic covalent networks by combining discrete siloxanes and dynamic acylsemicarbazide bonds. The ordered network shows improved (thermo)mechanical properties and creep resistance compared to the disordered network.

Video-based facial re-animation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 12th European Conference on Visual Media Production, 2015
Generating photorealistic facial animations is still a challenging task in computer graphics, and synthetically generated facial animations often do not meet the visual quality of captured video sequences. Video sequences on the other hand need to be captured prior to the animation stage and do not offer the same animation flexibility as computer ...

The authors’ voice in health sciences written and video abstracts: How do modes combine to engage audiences?

open access: yesCírculo de Lingüística Aplicada a la Comunicación, 2023
Video abstracts have emerged to supplement and support the information provided in written abstracts (Luzón & Pérez-Llantada, 2019). This new genre, characterised by the combined use of verbal and non-verbal semiotic resources, contributes to making ...

Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard): An Aerial Robotic Swarm for Autonomous Detection and Entrapment of Rogue Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard) is introduced as a four‐drone swarm that autonomously detects, tracks, and safely captures rogue drones using a coordinated net system. Computer vision and leader–follower control architecture enable synchronized enclosure, while integrated failsafes enhance system reliability. Validated through closed‐environment

Continuous‐Flow Microfluidic Synthesis Enhances C2+ Selectivity for Cu2O Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microfluidic devices are used to prepare Cu2O nanoparticles under laminar flow conditions, which exhibit enhanced selectivity in the CO2‐to‐C2+ reaction due to their nanoporosity and high defect concentration. Cu2O prepared using standard solution methods displays decreased CO2‐to‐C2+ selectivity due to the absence of similar properties. Altogether, we

Multiscale Coupling From Mastication to Retronasal Aroma Perception: The PG‐DTCFN Model and Multiphysics Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using grilled lamb skewers as a model system, this work builds a multiscale coupling framework from oral processing to retronasal aroma perception, reveals dual‐kinetic release patterns and Electroencephalogram‐characterized central encoding features, and proposes an interpretable physics‐guided deep learning model validated by multiphysics simulation,
