Outside Front Cover: Oxidation State Determines Solvent Structure Around a Manganese–Vanadium Polyoxometalate Water‐Oxidation Catalyst

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In the Research Article e9168848, Carsten Streb, Leticia González, and co‐workers report a combined theoretical and experimental study on the solvent environment around a molecular water oxidation catalyst. The oxidation states of molecular manganese vanadium oxide control the organization of water‐acetonitrile solvent mixtures, and thereby, the ...

The Intricate Sabatier Optimality of Anion Electroreduction and Its Consequences for Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The Sabatier principle and volcano plots declare that optimal electrocatalysis is found in the middle between strong and weak binding of key intermediates. However, it is shown here that during anion electroreduction, strong and weak binding are potential‐dependent concepts and volcanoes are mobile.

Beyond PEGylation: Archaeal Lipids for Long‐Circulating Liposomes

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Archaeal lipid‐based liposomes, particularly those containing caldarchaeol (GDGT), were found to significantly prolong the circulation time of vancomycin in rats, matching the pharmacokinetic properties of PEGylated systems. These findings suggest archaeal lipids as promising non‐PEG excipients for parenteral applications to minimize drug clearance ...

Consequences of Medium‐Pore Zeolite Constraints for Alkene Cracking—The Case of n‐Pentene

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Alkene cracking in medium‐pore zeolites is governed by a balance of enthalpic and entropic effects. Intrinsic barriers are quantified and shown to be lower than for alkanes due to stabilization of carbenium‐ion‐like transition states. Confinement and extra‐framework aluminum modulate reactivity by tuning transition‐state energetics, providing a ...
