USP7 manipulation by viral proteins
Ubiquitin Specific Protease 7 (USP7) is a deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) that plays critical roles in the regulation of many cellular processes including epigenetics, tumour suppression, oncogenesis, DNA damage response, immunity and viral infection. USP7 was the first DUB associated with viral infection.

SUMOylation in Viral Replication and Antiviral Defense
SUMOylation is a ubiquitination‐like post‐translational modification that plays an essential role in the regulation of protein function. Recent studies have shown that proteins from both RNA and DNA virus families can be modified by SUMO conjugation ...

Mimicry between proteins of human and avian influenza viruses and host immune system proteins
Viral infection can lead to dangerous and severe manifestations associated with immunosuppression and a cytokine storm. The last is typical for influenza A virus infection of H1N1 subtype, when the level of cytokines in the peripheral blood is ...

The SUMO Ligase Protein Inhibitor of Activated STAT 1 (PIAS1) is a constituent PML-NB protein that contributes to the intrinsic antiviral immune response to herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) [PDF]
Aspects of intrinsic antiviral immunity are mediated by promyelocytic leukaemia (PML)-nuclear body (PML-NB) constituent proteins. During herpesvirus infection, these antiviral proteins are independently recruited to nuclear domains that contain infecting

Viral Organization of Human Proteins
Although maps of intracellular interactions are increasingly well characterized, little is known about large-scale maps of host-pathogen protein interactions. The investigation of host-pathogen interactions can reveal features of pathogenesis and provide a foundation for the development of drugs and disease prevention strategies.

The cylindrical inclusion (CI) protein of potyviruses is involved in virus replication and cell-to-cell movement. These two processes should rely on multiple plant-virus interactions; however, little is known about the host factors that are involved in ...

Proteomic analysis of Glossina pallidipes salivary gland hypertrophy virus virions for immune intervention in tsetse fly colonies [PDF]
Many species of tsetse flies (Diptera: Glossinidae) can be infected by a virus that causes salivary gland hypertrophy (SGH). The viruses isolated from Glossina pallidipes (GpSGHV) and Musca somestica (MdSGHV) have recently been sequenced.

Unconventional secretion of viral proteins
Although largely less numerous and characterized than bacterial secreted effectors, several viral virulence factors are secreted by virus infected cells. However, their mode of secretion only starts to be studied at the molecular level. Several of these viral effectors are secreted using an unconventional secretion pathway, i.e.
