The Spatial Biology of HIV Transmission and Infection: Imaging the Female and Male Reproductive Tracts

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Reproductive Immunology, Volume 95, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT HIV transmission through the female and male reproductive tracts is governed by spatially organized interactions between virions, epithelial barriers, and tissue‐resident immune cells. Imaging approaches have been central to defining these earliest events, progressing from classical histology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) to modern ...

Increased Risk for Liver Disease in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection and Low‐Level Viraemia

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 63, Issue 12, Page 1626-1634, June 2026.
We used an administrative claims dataset to evaluate the relationship between hepatitis B virus (HBV) low‐level viraemia and subsequent liver‐related outcomes in patients with chronic HBV. We found that individuals with HBV low‐level viraemia have an increased risk for liver‐related events (i.e., cirrhosis, decompensation, and hepatocellular carcinoma)

Outcomes Following Alemtuzumab Induction in Deceased Donor Kidney Transplantation According to Recipient Age Categories: A Single Center Report

open access: yesClinical Transplantation, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The effects of induction therapy with the anti‐CD52 monoclonal antibody alemtuzumab on age‐specific outcomes following kidney transplantation (KT) remain inadequately studied. This study aimed to analyze the comparative safety and efficacy of single‐dose alemtuzumab induction in deceased donor (DD) KT recipients according to ...

Incidence and Characteristics of HBV Reactivation‐Related Events Following HBsAg Seroclearance: Long‐Term Follow‐up of a Population‐Based Cohort in Japan

open access: yesHepatology Research, Volume 56, Issue 6, Page 944-955, June 2026.
In a population‐based cohort in Japan, HBV reactivation‐related events were observed after HBsAg seroclearance, including one virologically confirmed hepatic flare occurring spontaneously without chemotherapy or immunosuppression. These findings indicate that HBsAg seroclearance does not always represent complete viral eradication, supporting the need ...

Prevalence of low‐level viremia and its association with virological failure among adolescents living with HIV in Eastern Cape, South Africa

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 27, Issue 6, Page 1018-1030, June 2026.
Abstract Objectives Low‐level viremia (LLV) has been associated with an increased risk of virological failure among adults on antiretroviral therapy (ART). However, evidence on the clinical implications of LLV among adolescents living with HIV remains limited.
