Morphogenesis of the infectious HIV-1 virion

open access: yes, 2011
The virion of HIV-1 is spherical and viral glycoprotein spikes (gp120, gp41) protrude from its envelope. The characteristic cone-shaped core exists within the virion, caging the ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, which is comprised of viral RNA ...

Advances and perspectives in animal models of human hepatitis A virus

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Following HAV infection, humans, non‐human primates, and Ifnar1−/− mice develop characteristic manifestations of hepatitis A, including fecal viral shedding, elevated serum ALT levels, and inflammatory cell infiltration in the liver. In contrast, HAV‐infected human liver chimeric mice exhibit fecal viral shedding but do not develop clinical features of

Dose‐dependent pathogenicity and inflammatory imbalance in severely immunodeficient mice infected with mpox virus

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study establishes an NPG (NOD.Cg‐Prkdcscid Il2rgtm1/Vst) mouse model for severe monkeypox virus infection in immunocompromised hosts, demonstrating dose‐dependent disease severity and revealing that unbalanced pro‐inflammatory cytokine release drives pathogenesis, providing insights for therapeutic interventions. Abstract The global spread of mpox

Identification Epitope on VP4 Protein of Senecavirus A Recognized by a Monoclonal Antibody

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study aims to identify conserved antigenic epitopes on the SVA VP4 protein using monoclonal antibodies, providing valuable tools for further exploring its functions and developing detection methods. SVA VP4 protein was expressed in Escherichia coli and purified with High‐Affinity Ni‐Charged Resin FF.

Duck Orbivirus and Egg Production: A Newly Identified Duck Orbivirus Is the Etiological Agent of Egg Production Decline in Chinese Breeder Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.

Native Morphology of Influenza Virions

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2012
Influenza A virus is an enveloped virus with a segmented, single-strand, negative-sense RNA genome. Its virions show spherical or filamentous shapes of about 100 nm in diameter and occasionally irregular morphology, which exemplifies the pleomorphic nature of these virions.
