A first-order stabilization-free Virtual Element Method
In this paper, we introduce a new Virtual Element Method (VEM) not requiring any stabilization term based on the usual enhanced first-order VEM space. The new method relies on a modified formulation of the discrete diffusion operator that ensures stability preserving all the properties of the differential operator.

Refined shell elements for the analysis of functionally graded structures [PDF]
The present paper considers the static analysis of plates and shells made of Functionally Graded Material (FGM), subjected to mechanical loads. Refined models based on the Carrera's Unified Formulation (CUF) are employed to account for grading ...

The pionic beta decay in chiral perturbation theory [PDF]
Within the framework of chiral perturbation theory with virtual photons and leptons, we present an updated analysis of the pionic beta decay including all electromagnetic contributions of order e**2 p**2.

Heavy quark effects on parton distribution functions in the unpolarized virtual photon up to the next-to-leading order in QCD [PDF]
We investigate the heavy quark mass effects on the parton distribution functions in the unpolarized virtual photon up to the next-to-leading order in QCD.

FETI-DP for the Three Dimensional Virtual Element Method [PDF]
We deal with the Finite Element Tearing and Interconnecting Dual Primal (FETI-DP) preconditioner for elliptic problems discretized by the virtual element method (VEM). We extend the result of [22] to the three dimensional case. We prove polylogarithmic condition number bounds, independent of the number of subdomains, the mesh size, and jumps in the ...

A Dual Hybrid Virtual Element Method for Plane Elasticity Problems
A dual hybrid Virtual Element scheme for plane linear elastic problems is presented and analysed. In particular, stability and convergence results have been established.

A Plane Wave Virtual Element Method for the Helmholtz Problem [PDF]
We introduce and analyze a virtual element method (VEM) for the Helmholtz problem with approximating spaces made of products of low order VEM functions and plane waves. We restrict ourselves to the 2D Helmholtz equation with impedance boundary conditions

When rational functions meet virtual elements: the lightning virtual element method
AbstractWe propose a lightning Virtual Element Method that eliminates the stabilisation term by actually computing the virtual component of the local VEM basis functions using a lightning approximation. In particular, the lightning VEM approximates the virtual part of the basis functions using rational functions with poles clustered exponentially close

Dual virtual element method in presence of an inclusion
We consider a Darcy problem for saturated porous media written in dual formulation in presence of a fully immersed inclusion. The lowest order virtual element method is employ to derive the discrete approximation.
