A Mobility-Oriented Scheme for Virtual Machine Migration in Cloud Data Center Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Being a key computing element in cloud data center, virtual machines should be able to migrate from one location to another to meet the requirements of the cloud users and the defined policies of the cloud computing system.

An efficient use of virtualization in grid/cloud environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Grid is a hardware and software infrastructure that provides dependable, consistent, pervasive, and inexpensive access to high-end computational resources. Grid enables access to the resources but it does not guarantee any quality of service.

Contact Lens with Moiré Patterns for High‐Precision Eye Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a passive contact lens for high‐precision eye tracking, integrating a microscopic moiré grating label. The parallax‐induced shift of macroscopic moiré patterns enables angle measurement with 0.28° precision using a standard camera under ambient light.

An accelerometer based-feedback technique for improving dynamic performance of a machine tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A novel concept for improving machine dynamic performance was developed and realised, a virtual metrology frame, for a small size CNC machine with flexible frame. Its implementation in a simplified linear motion system shows a reduction in the magnitude

Performance of machine-learning scoring functions in structure-based virtual screening

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Classical scoring functions have reached a plateau in their performance in virtual screening and binding affinity prediction. Recently, machine-learning scoring functions trained on protein-ligand complexes have shown great promise in small tailored ...

Universal Electronic‐Structure Relationship Governing Intrinsic Magnetic Properties in Permanent Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Permanent magnets derive their extraordinary strength from deep, universal electronic‐structure principles that control magnetization, anisotropy, and intrinsic performance. This work uncovers those governing rules, examines modern modeling and AI‐driven discovery methods, identifies critical bottlenecks, and reveals electronic fingerprints shared ...

Image-Based Cross-Domain Visual-Data Retrieval with Deep Semantic Correlation Learning [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng
Image-based cross-domain retrieval of visual data is performed to identify cross-domain images and three-dimensional model data that are semantically consistent with or similar in appearance to an input image.

Pre-virtualization: Soft layering for virtual machines

open access: yes2008 13th Asia-Pacific Computer Systems Architecture Conference, 2008
Despite its current popularity, para-virtualization has an enormous cost. Its deviation from the platform architecture abandons many of the benefits of traditional virtualization: stable and well-defined platform interfaces, hypervisor neutrality, operating system neutrality, and upgrade neutrality - in sum, modularity.

Artificial Intelligence as the Next Visionary in Liquid Crystal Research

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The functions of AI in the research laboratory are becoming increasingly sophisticated, allowing the entire process of hypothesis formulation, material design, synthesis, experimental design, and reiterative testing to be automated. In our work, we conceive how the incorporation of AI in the laboratory environment will transform the role and ...
