Wireless sensor network virtualization: A survey [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, 2016
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are the key components of the emerging Internet-of-Things (IoT) paradigm. They are now ubiquitous and used in a plurality of application domains. WSNs are still domain specific and usually deployed to support a specific application.

Enabling Virtual Sensing as a Service

open access: yesInformatics, 2016
In many situations, placing a physical sensor in the ideal position in or on the human body to acquire sensing data is incredibly difficult. Virtual sensors, in contrast to physical sensors, can provide indirect measurements by making use of other ...

VSF: An Energy-Efficient Sensing Framework Using Virtual Sensors

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we describe virtual sensing framework (VSF), which reduces sensing and data transmission activities of nodes in a sensor network without compromising on either the sensing interval or data quality.

Virtual sensor design [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2004
We present a virtual digital camera sensor, whose aim is to simulate a real (physical) image capturing sensor. To accomplish this task, the virtual sensor operates in two steps. First, it accepts a physical description of agiven scene and simulates the entire process of photon sensing and charge generation in the sensor device.

On the Optimal Field Sensing in Near-Field Characterization

open access: yesSensors, 2021
We deal with the problem of characterizing a source or scatterer from electromagnetic radiated or scattered field measurements. The problem refers to the amplitude and phase measurements which has applications also to interferometric approaches at ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
