Virtual environment cultural training for operational readiness (VECTOR)

Virtual Reality, 2005
Abstract : An immersive training system, called Virtual Environment Cultural Training for Operational Readiness Training Delivery (VECTOR-TD), was developed to provide scenario-based virtual environments to support cultural familiarization. This paper describes the cultural-training application, the architectural design, and the associated ...

A vector perturbation with virtual users for multiuser MIMO downlink

2010 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2010
In this paper, we put forth an approach pursuing performance gain of vector perturbation in multiuser MIMO downlink. Instead of achieving maximal sum capacity by employing maximum number of mobile users for communication, we sacrifice small part of them for improving the performance of ones participating communication.

A virtual image cryptosystem based upon vector quantization

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1998
We propose a new image cryptosystem to protect image data. It encrypts the original image into another virtual image. Since both original and virtual images are significant, our new cryptosystem can confuse illegal users. Besides the camouflage, this new cryptosystem has three other benefits.

Vectors of the Virtual in New Media Theory

L'Esprit Créateur, 2003
nature of these activities, altering what and how we read and write, as well as producing deleterious effects on our very language. Thus, in The Gutenberg Elegies literary critic Sven Birkerts argues that the electronic millenium will inevitably bring about an erosion of language, the complexities and expressive capacities of the language we now use ...

Symbolic Representation of Vector Map in Virtual Geographic Environment

2012
Those basic geometric graphs such as lines and polygons are the main representations used by 3D rendering methods of vector map at present. It is so simple that strictly limited map feature information has been transferred. Consequently, an extended rendering method based on the shadow volume stencil theory is presented, which allows real time ...

Rendering of Vector Data on 3D Virtual Landscapes

2009 First International Conference on Information Science and Engineering, 2009
In geographical information systems (GIS), vector data has important applications in the analysis and management of virtual landscapes. Therefore, methods that allow combined visualization of terrain and geo-spatial vector data are required. Such methods have to adapt the vector data to the terrain surface and to ensure a precise and efficient mapping.

Vector Migration of Virtual Source VSP Data

70th EAGE Conference and Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2008, 2008
A walkaway VSP survey is carried out with receivers located in a borehole under a salt overhang. Redatuming of the multicomponent data to virtual sources in the borehole followed by vector Kirchhoff migration using a simple velocity model provides an accurate image of the salt face.
