Epidemic Thresholds with External Agents [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
We study the effect of external infection sources on phase transitions in epidemic processes. In particular, we consider an epidemic spreading on a network via the SIS/SIR dynamics, which in addition is aided by external agents - sources unconstrained by the graph, but possessing a limited infection rate or virulence.

Evolution of malaria virulence in cross-generation transmission through selective immune pressure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Theoretical arguments and some mathematical models of host-parasite coevolution (e.g. [1- 6]) suggest host immunity as the driving source for the evolution of parasite virulence.

Candida species detection in patients with chronic periodontitis: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1354-1375, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives To assess the Candida species occurrence rate and concentration in periodontal pockets in chronic periodontitis (CP) by meta‐analysis. Materials and Methods A search was performed of articles published between January 1, 2010, and October 1, 2020, in English and in Russian, in the electronic databases MEDLINE‐PubMed, Google Scholar,

Does high sugar intake really alter the oral microbiota?: A systematic review

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1376-1390, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives Diet is one of the main factors influencing the diversity and interactions of the oral microbiota. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of sugar intake on the microbial diversity and bacteria that predominate under these conditions.

The ATM Kinase Inhibitor AZD0156 is a Potent Inhibitor of Plasmodium Phosphatidylinositol 4‐Kinase (PI4Kβ) and is an Attractive Candidate for Medicinal Chemistry Optimisation Ag…

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
New compounds targeting human malaria parasites are critical for effective malaria control and elimination. Here, we pursued the imidazoquinolinone AZD0156 (MMV1580483), a human ataxia‐telangiectasia mutated (ATM) kinase inhibitor that completed Phase I clinical trials as an anticancer agent.
