Emerging and re-emerging transfusion-transmitted pathogens in China: A narrative review

open access: yesZhongguo shuxue zazhi
Transfusion transmission of emerging and re-emerging pathogens remains a persistent challenge to blood safety in China. This article reviews the current epidemic status and transfusion-transmission risks of pathogens such as dengue virus, Zika virus ...

Construction and characterization of chimaeric human immunodefiency virus type 1 subtype C Gag virus-like particles

open access: yes, 2006
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 114-128).In this study I explored the possibility of making HIV-1 subtype C Pr55gag-based chimaeric virus-like particles (VLPs) as a boost to the HIV-IC multigene DNA vaccine pTHr.grttnC, which encodes a ...

m6A‐Mediated Glycolysis by IL‐37 Drives T Cell Metabolic Reprogramming to Regulate Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies an IL‐37/SIGIRR‐METTL14 regulatory axis that suppresses global m6A modification in CD4+ T cells. IL‐37 signaling, mediated through SIGIRR, inhibits IRAK4 and JNK phosphorylation, leading to downregulation of the methyltransferase METTL14.

From actually toxic to highly specific – novel drugs against poxviruses

open access: yes, 2007
The potential use of variola virus, the causative agent of smallpox, as a bioweapon and the endemic presence of monkeypox virus in Africa demonstrate the need for better therapies for orthopoxvirus infections. Chemotherapeutic approaches to control viral

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

Evaluation of crAssphages as a potential marker of human viral contamination in environmental water and fresh leafy greens

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
CrAssphages are human gut bacteriophages with potential use as an indicator of human fecal contamination in water and other environmental systems. We determined the prevalence and abundance of crAssphages in water, food, and fecal samples and compared ...

Machine‐Learning Microfluidic Minute‐Scale Microorganism Metrics Monitoring(M6)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT On‐site monitoring of microorganisms remains challenging because of low concentrations, strong background interference, and dynamic aerosol diffusion, particularly for aerosol‐transmitted pathogens. Here, we report a rapid detection platform that integrates a Puri‐focusing microfluidic chip, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and ...

Pharmacologic Modulation of ARID3A with Rimegepant Reactivates Type I Interferon Signaling and Sensitizes Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer to PD‐1 Blockade

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARID3A as a key immunosuppressive transcription factor in TNBC. Its inhibition activates the type I IFN pathway, boosting CD8+ T cell infiltration and sensitizing tumors to anti‐PD‐1. The FDA‐approved migraine drug Rimegepant targets ARID3A, enhances immunotherapy efficacy in preclinical models, and establishes a druggable axis to
