Viscoelastic Biomaterials for Tissue Regeneration
The extracellular matrix (ECM) mechanical properties regulate key cellular processes in tissue development and regeneration. The majority of scientific investigation has focused on ECM elasticity as the primary mechanical regulator of cell and tissue ...

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Visuo-Haptic Discrimination of Viscoelastic Materials
In our daily lives, we interact with different types of deformable materials. Regarding their mechanical behavior, some of those materials lie in a range that is between purely elastic and purely viscous. This range of mechanical behavior is described as viscoelasticity.

Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

VISCOELASTIC FLUID FLOW FEATURES IN THE DISK-SHAPED GAP EXTRUDER
Disk-shaped gap extruders have higher plasticizing and homogenizing power than screw extruders, but the forming pressure which they develop is lower. Therefore, they are mainly used as mixers or granulators for loading the prep- aration material into ...

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Numerical comparisons of sandwich viscoelastic beam models
Composite structures with elastic layers and viscoelastic core have been used as a passive damping treatment applied to reduce vibration amplitudes. In the design phase of this type of damping technique, many aspects ranging from computer modeling to ...

Multianalyte, real‐time monitoring of bioprinted scaffolds remains challenging. Phosphorescence‐lifetime–based, optically responsive microparticles are embedded in diverse printable hydrogels (κ‐carrageenan, GelMA, PEGDA) to form biomaterial inks that report oxygen, glucose, lactate, and temperature.
