Nonlinear enhanced dissipation in viscous Burgers type equations II
We construct a class of infinite mass functions for which solutions of the viscous Burgers equation decay at a better rate than the solution of the heat equation for the same initial data in this class. In other words, we show an enhanced dissipation coming from a nonlinear transport term.

Viscous Dissipation Impact on Free Convection Flow of Cu-water Nanofluid in a Circular Enclosure with Porosity Considering Internal Heat Source [PDF]
In this work, free convection of Cu-water nanofluid in an enclosure by considering internally heat generated in the porous circular cavity and the impacts of viscous dissipation are numerically evaluated by control volume finite element method (CVFEM ...

Viscous dissipation effect on CuO-Water nanofluid-cooled microchannel heat sinks
While a microchannel heat sink is known to regulate the temperatures of microelectronics devices, viscous dissipation that originates from work done by viscous forces, might have an impact on the heat convection coefficient from a heated boundary.

Impact of the Dissipation on the Nonlinear Interactions and Turbulence of Gravity-Capillary Waves
Gravity-capillary waves at the water surface are an obvious example illustrating wave propagation in the laboratory, and also nonlinear wave phenomena such as wave interactions or wave turbulence. However, at high-enough frequencies or small scales (i.e.,

Dissipation energy in sound-absorbing poroelastic material
In sound-absorbing poro-elastic media, the energy of incident sound wave is dissipated through the following three mechanisms: the viscous dissipation arising the vicinity of the boundary between the solid and fluid phases due to the viscosity of air ...

Supporting brace sizing in structures with added linear viscous fluid dampers: A filter design solution [PDF]
Viscous fluid dampers have proved to be effective in suppressing unwanted vibrations in a range of engineering structures. When dampers are fitted in a structure, a brace is typically used to attach them to the main structure. The stiffness of this brace

A numerical investigation of horizontal viscous gravity currents [PDF]
We study numerically the viscous phase of horizontal gravity currents of immiscible fluids in the lock-exchange configuration. A numerical technique capable of dealing with stiff density gradients is used, allowing us to mimic high-Schmidt-number ...
