A Laplacian-based algorithm for non-isothermal atomistic-continuum hybrid simulation of micro and nano-flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a new hybrid algorithm for incompressible micro and nanoflows that applies to non-isothermal steady-state flows and does not require the calculation of the Irving–Kirkwood stress tensor or heat flux vector.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Entropy generation analysis for viscoelastic MHD flow over a stretching sheet embedded in a porous medium

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2017
In this paper it is intended to analyse entropy generation by applying second law of thermodynamics to magnetohydrodynamic flow, heat and mass transfer of an electrically conducting viscoelastic liquid (Walters B′) past on a stretching surface, taking ...

Interaction between two spherical bubbles rising in a viscous liquid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The three-dimensional flow around two spherical bubbles moving in a viscous fluid is studied numerically by solving the full Navier-Stokes equations. The study considers the interaction between two bubbles for moderate Reynolds numbers (50 ≤ Re ≤ 500, Re

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Viscous dissipation and Joule heating effects in MHD 3D flow with heat and mass fluxes

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
The present research explores the three-dimensional stretched flow of viscous fluid in the presence of prescribed heat (PHF) and concentration (PCF) fluxes.

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

Non-Darcy Forchheimer flow of ferromagnetic second grade fluid

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2017
This article discusses impacts of thermal radiation, viscous dissipation and magnetic dipole in flow of second grade fluid saturating porous medium. Porous medium is characterized by nonlinear Darcy-Forchheimer relation.

A Note on the Cartesian Graetz problem with viscous dissipation

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
In this paper a numerical analysis to the Graetz problem with viscous dissipation is carried out, based on a series expansion of the temperature field and considering two conditions for the inlet temperature profile, the case of uniform temperature and ...
