Onset of Viscous Dissipation Instability in Plane Couette Flow with Temperature-Dependent Viscosity

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The conditions for the onset of dissipation thermal instability with temperature-dependent viscosity in the plane Couette flow of a Newtonian fluid are analyzed. The studied system consists of a horizontal fluid layer confined between an adiabatic (fixed)

Viscous dissipation in explosive volcanic flows

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2005
Most models for magma flow in volcanic conduits during explosive eruptions assume isothermal ascent conditions due to the high heat capacity of the magma. Here we present a non‐isothermal axisymmetrical flow model that accounts for the temperature‐dependent viscosity of magma and viscous dissipation of heat.

Dynamics of viscous dissipative plane symmetric gravitational collapse [PDF]

open access: yesGeneral Relativity and Gravitation, 2010
We present dynamical description of gravitational collapse in view of Misner and Sharp's formalism. Matter under consideration is a complicated fluid consistent with plane symmetry which we assume to undergo dissipation in the form of heat flow, radiation, shear and bulk viscosity. Junction conditions are studied for a general spacetime in the interior

Numerical Investigation of Viscous Dissipation in Elliptic Microducts [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2014
In this work a numerical analysis of heat transfer in elliptical microchannels heated at constant and uniform heat flux is presented. A gaseous flow has been considered, in laminar steady state condition, in hydrodynamically and thermally fully developed forced convection, accounting for the rarefaction effects.

On Convective Dusty Flow Past a Vertical Stretching Sheet with Internal Heat Absorption

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
The steady two-dimensional boundary layer flow of a viscous, incompressible, and electrically conducting dusty fluid past a vertical permeable stretching sheet under the influence of a transverse magnetic field with the viscous and Joule dissipation is ...

MHD boundary layer thermal slip flow by nonlinearly stretching cylinder with suction/blowing and radiation

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2017
A mathematical model has been developed to study the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of viscous fluid due to a nonlinear stretching cylinder. The flow is discussed in the presence of velocity and thermal slip conditions. Effects of viscous dissipation and

Low moduli elastomers with low viscous dissipation [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2012
A controlled reaction schema for addition curing silicones leads to both significantly lower elastic modulus and lower viscous dissipation than for the chemically identical network prepared by the traditional reaction schema.

Variable properties of MHD third order fluid with peristalsis

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2016
This article addresses the impact of temperature dependent variable properties on peristaltic flow of third order fluid in a symmetric channel. The MHD fluid and viscous dissipation effects are taken into account.

Effect of Variable Gravity on Darcy Flow with Impressed Horizontal Gradient and Viscous Dissipation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2016
The effect of variable gravity on the free convection in a horizontal porous layer with viscous dissipation is investigated. The bottom boundary is taken as adiabatic and there is a non-uniform temperature distribution along the upper boundary.
