One repeatedly finds that mistletoe (Viscum album L.) extracts show immune-modulating effects. This is also true in many cases in the experimental setting. Many of the experimental trials cannot, however, be transferred to the clinical situation - or only in a limited way.

Verbreitung von Viscum album L. ssp. album in Leverkusen und Umgebung

In der Umgebung von Leverkusen wurde die Verbreitung und Häufigkeit der Laubholzmistel untersucht. Im Gebiet der TK 25 4907, 4908 und 5008 kommt Viscum album ssp. album auf mindestens 14 Wirtsarten vor. Die häufigsten Wirte sind Pappelhybriden und Apfelbäume.

The mistletoe (Viscum album L.) extract Iscador has been shown to be an effective complementary drug in the treatment of cancer patients after surgical removal of the primary tumor. It improved survival, recovery from damage caused by irradiation or cytostatic therapy, and quality of life.
