Effects of Viscum coloratum (Kom.) Nakai on collagen-induced rheumatoid arthritis

Journal of Ethnopharmacology
Viscum coloratum (Kom.) Nakai has been traditionally used in China for nearly a thousand years to treat rheumatic diseases. However, its efficacy and mechanisms in treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have not been demonstrated. To investigate the anti-arthritic effects and molecular mechanisms of Viscum coloratum (Kom.) Nakai on collagen-induced ...

Flavonoids from ChineseViscum coloratum: antiarrhythmic efficacy and ionic mechanisms

Phytotherapy Research, 2006
Viscum coloratum flavonoids (VCF) have been demonstrated to produce a variety of biological actions. An accumulating line of evidence supported the view that VCF may exert protective effects on the cardiovascular system. The aim of the study was to assess the antiarrhythmic activity as well as the electrophysiological properties of VCF.

Inhibitory Activity of the Ethyl Acetate Fraction from Viscum coloratum on Bone Resorption

Planta Medica, 2008
The effects of four fractions, a hexane fraction, an ethyl acetate fraction, an N-butanol fraction and a water fraction, from a water extract of Herba Visci were investigated to find the fraction, in IN VITRO experiments, with the greatest ability to inhibit the formation of osteoclast-like multinucleated cells from mouse bone marrow cells and also to ...

[Studies on the chemical constituents of Viscum coloratum].

Zhong yao cai = Zhongyaocai = Journal of Chinese medicinal materials, 2003
Four compounds were isolated from Viscum coloratum (Kom.) Nakai by means of both solvent extraction and chromatographic separation methods. These constituents were identified through spectral analysis of IR, 1H-NMR. 13C-NMR and MS. They are syringin, oleanolic acid, beta-acetylamyrin and homoeriodictyol-7-beta-D-glucoside.

An antitumor activity endophytic fungus a33 isolated from Viscum Coloratum of Chinese

2011 International Conference on Remote Sensing, Environment and Transportation Engineering, 2011
An endophytic fungus having antitumor activity was isolated from Viscum Coloratum of Chinese. On the basis of its morphological and 18S rDNA sequence, the fungus was identified as Lasiodiplodia theobromae and designated as A33. The broth of A33 showed effectively antitumor acitivity. In addition, TNF mRNA exoression was upregulated after treatment with

[Extraction and content determination of polysaccharides in Viscum coloratum].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2009
To establish a method for extraction and content determination of polysaccharide in Viscum coloratum.Polysaccharide was extracted by hot water, separated by ultrafiltration and ion-exchange chromatography. The content determination was performed at wavelength 490 nm with phenol-sulfuric acid as a chtomo-genic agent. The content of polyaccharide in V ...

Korean mistletoe (Viscum album coloratum) extract extends the lifespan of nematodes and fruit flies

Biogerontology, 2013
Viscum album coloratum (Korean mistletoe) is a semi-parasitic plant that grows on various trees and has a variety of biological functions such as immunomodulation, apoptosis, and anti-tumor activity. In this study, we investigated the effects of Korean mistletoe extract (KME) on lifespan in experimental models using Caenorhabditis elegans and ...

The Antimutagenic Effect of Mistletoe Lectin (Viscum album L. var. coloratum agglutinin)

Phytotherapy Research, 2011
A galactose‐ and N‐acetyl‐D‐galactosamine‐specific lectin (Viscum album L. var. coloratum agglutinin, VCA), which is known for its anticancer activity, was isolated from mistletoe. In this study, we investigated the antimutagenic potentials of VCA by using the pre‐incubation method of the Ames test (Salmonella typhimurium TA98 and TA100) in the ...

Purification, characterization and anti-proliferation activities of polysaccharides extracted from Viscum coloratum (Kom.) Nakai

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2016
Three polysaccharides, VCP1, VCP2 and VCP3 were isolated from Viscum coloratum (Kom.) Nakai using DEAE-cellulose chromatography. VCP1 (32KDa) was composed of glucose, galactose, arabinose, rhamnose and mannose, while VCP2 (280KDa) and VCP3 (21KDa) were consisted of glucose, galactose, arabinose, rhamnose, mannose, glucuronic acid and galacturonic acid.

Isolation and characterization of biologically active lectin from Korean mistletoe, Viscum album var. Coloratum

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences (CMLS), 1999
A mistletoe lectin was isolated from water extracts of Korean mistletoe, a subspecies of Viscum album, grown on Quercus mongolica using CM-Sepharose chromatography followed by an affinity chromatography on a concanavalin A-Sepharose column. The compound proved to be a mistletoe lectin II with D-galactose and N-acetyl-D-galactosamine specificity. Matrix-
