Cinnamaldehyde From Cinnamon as a Food‐Derived Bioactive: Phytochemistry, Anticancer Mechanisms, Bioavailability, Nanoformulation and Safety

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 5, September 2026.
Cinnamaldehyde derived from Cinnamomum species exerts multitarget anticancer effects by promoting oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, apoptosis, cell‐cycle arrest, autophagy, and epigenetic changes, and by suppressing mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK), phosphoinositide 3‐kinase/protein kinase B/mechanistic target of rapamycin (PI3K/Akt ...

Cloning and expression of visfatin and screening of oligopeptides binding with visfatin.

open access: yesInternational journal of clinical and experimental medicine, 2015
In the present study, we constructed an efficient expression system for visfatin and identified the peptide sequences which binding to visfatin. The fusion protein was identified by SDS-PAGE and Western blot. The yield of visfatin was 300 mg/L culture medium with optimal conditions.

An Enflammatory Marker in Chronic Renal Failure Patients: Visfatin

open access: yes, 2010
Aim: Visfatin is a cytokine released from adipose tissue, especially in enflammation. In our study, we tried to show the relationship of visfatin levels with chronic renal failure (CRF) as an enflammatory marker. Methods: We included 50 CRF patients (

Visfatin--a review.

open access: yesEuropean review for medical and pharmacological sciences, 2011
Expedited research on Obesity has confirmed that, adipose tissue is highly active in secreting a variety of proteins, one among them is visfatin. It was originally identified as Pre B cell Colony Enhancing Factor (PBEF), to be secreted by the lymphocytes and can act as a cytokine with immune regulatory action.

Expression of visfatin in gingival crevicular fluid and gingival tissues in different periodontal conditions: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background Studies have shown that visfatin is an inflammatory factor closely related to periodontitis. We examined the levels of visfatin in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and gingival tissues under different periodontal conditions, in order to provide

Indels within the bovine visfatin gene affect its mRNA expression in longissimus muscle and subcutaneous fat [PDF]

open access: yesArchives Animal Breeding, 2016
Visfatin, an adipokine hormone produced primarily by visceral adipose tissue in mammals, has been identified as having a crucial role in growth and development of skeletal muscle and lipids.

Metabolic Syndrome: From Mechanisms to Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
A comprehensive overview of molecular mechanisms delves into the potential disease mechanisms of metabolic syndrome, including complex mechanisms such as insulin resistance, chronic low‐grade inflammation, oxidative stress, and epigenetic modifications, and how these mechanisms contribute to the development of metabolic syndrome. Here, the relationship

Serum Visfatin Levels in Ulcerative Colitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, 2015
BackgroundPrevious studies have suggested that adipokines play a role in inflammatory bowel disease by inducing proinflammatory cytokines, but it is uncertain whether visfatin is causally involved in ulcerative colitis (UC). We evaluated visfatin levels in patients who presented with UC flares before and after treatment.MethodsIn this cohort study, we ...

Association of plasma visfatin with hepatic and systemic inflammation in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology, 2013
Background. Visfatin is a proinflammatory and insulin-mimetic adipokine contributing to whole body glucose and lipid metabolism. Studies to date are conflicting regarding the relationship between visfatin and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD ...

Current and Future Perspectives on Adipo‐Oncology: Roles of Adipocytes in Local and Systemic Tumor Regulation

open access: yesPathology International, Volume 76, Issue 9, September 2026.
Adipocytes regulate tumor development and progression through both local and systemic mechanisms. Local regulation involves cancer‐associated adipocytes, paracrine signaling, lipid transfer, and modulation of stromal and immune cells, whereas adipokines, inflammatory cytokines, extracellular vesicles, and lipid transfer mediate systemic regulation ...
