Imaging visible light with Medipix2

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2010
A need exists for high-speed single-photon counting optical imaging detectors. Single-photon counting high-speed detection of x rays is possible by using Medipix2 with pixelated silicon photodiodes. In this article, we report on a device that exploits the Medipix2 chip for optical imaging.

Visible Entropy: A Measure for Image Visibility

2010 20th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2010
Image visibility is a fundamental issue in the field of computer vision. This paper investigates the connection between histogram and image visibility, where the concept of entropy is employed to depict the information content of the histogram. It turns out that image visibility is more dependent on the observed intensity levels with higher frequencies

Visibility-related image features

Pattern Recognition Letters, 1992
Abstract The intervisibility of two points in a digital grey-scale image array is defined by analogy between the intensity values of the picture elements and surface elevation on topographic surfaces. The distributions of the pairwise visibility (a boolean function) between image points, of the visibility count of the number of points visible from ...

ATST visible broadband imager

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
The Advanced Technology Solar Telescope (ATST) is a 4 meter class telescope for observation of the solar atmosphere currently in the construction phase. The Visible Broadband Imager (VBI) is a diffraction limited imaging instrument planned to be the first-light instrument in the ATST instrumentation suite.

Ultraviolet and visible imaging and spectrographic imaging instrument

Applied Optics, 1994
The Ultraviolet and Visible Imaging and Spectrographic Imaging experiment consists of five spectrographic imagers and four imagers. These nine sensors provide spectrographic and imaging capabilities from 110 to 900 nm. The spectrographic imagers share an off-axis design in which selectable slits alternate fields of view (1.00° × 0.10° or 1.00° × 0.05°)

Visible Light Images

2021
This chapter is concerned with the acquisition, processing, and display of image data. We will first learn about the physical principles of electromagnetic waves, which include visible light (Sect. 5.2), and then discuss how cameras capture visible light images (Sect. 5.3).

Visible Light Bioluminescence Imaging Platform for Animal Cell Imaging

2022
The present protocol introduces a visible light bioluminescence imaging (BLI) platform together with 12 novel coelenterazine (CTZ) analogues and luciferase sets. We exemplify to create diverse hues of bioluminescence (BL) ranging from blue to far red with the combination of marine luciferases and the three groups of CTZ analogues.

Visible ghost imaging with nonvisible light

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014
In this paper, we present a new scheme of thermal ghost imaging: visible ghost imaging with nonvisible light, which can overcome the disadvantages of conventional thermal imaging. For the two light beams of the thermal ghost imaging, we use the nonvisible light (i.e., infrared light) as the object beam and the visible light as the reference beam.

Binary-space-partitioned images for resolving image-based visibility

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2004
We propose a novel 2D representation for 3D visibility sorting, the Binary-Space-Partitioned Image (BSPI), to accelerate real-time image-based rendering. BSPI is an efficient 2D realization of a 3D BSP tree, which is commonly used in computer graphics for time-critical visibility sorting.
