Visible ghost imaging with nonvisible light
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014In this paper, we present a new scheme of thermal ghost imaging: visible ghost imaging with nonvisible light, which can overcome the disadvantages of conventional thermal imaging. For the two light beams of the thermal ghost imaging, we use the nonvisible light (i.e., infrared light) as the object beam and the visible light as the reference beam.

Conversion of Infrared Images to Visible in Color
Applied Optics, 1968An ir line scan instrument has been developed that scans a scene simultaneously with three separate spectral regions and produces an image of the scene as a color photograph. The three spectral regions are 0.5-1.0 micro, 3.0-5.5 micro and 8.0-14.0 micro. The ir detectors used are Si, InSb, and Ge:Hg, respectively.

The Visibility and Image of Handicapped People on Television
Exceptional Children, 1981A random sample of prime time television programing during spring 1979 was analyzed to determine the visibility and image of characters portrayed as handicapped. Results suggested that handicapped persons are, overall, not highly visible and are as likely to appear in negative roles as positive ones.

No Reference Assessment of Image Visibility for Dehazing
2017Haze affects the quality and visibility of the image. Many dehazing algorithms have been developed in recent years. However, the evaluation for the performance of the dehazing method is still not solved. The assessment is not easy to achieve since the reference image is not available.

Learning Based Visibility Measuring with Images
2011Visibility is one of the major items of meteorological observation. Its accuracy is very important to air, sea and highways and transport. A method of visibility calculation based on image analysis and learning is introduced in this paper. First, visibility image is effectively represented by contrast based vision features.

Estimation of visibility using a visual image
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2015Optical-based visibility measurement instruments have been widely used to quantify atmospheric light extinction for decades. The light extinction coefficient is converted to visual range using a well-known formula since visibility is defined as the longest distance at which a black object can be observed against the horizon.

Visibility Estimation Using a Single Image
2017In this paper, we propose a novel method for visibility estimation using only a single image as input. An assumption is proposed: the extinction coefficient of light is approximately a constant in clear atmosphere. Using this assumption with the theory of atmospheric radiation, the extinction coefficient in clear atmosphere can be estimated.
