Optimal Linear Precoding for Indoor Visible Light Communication System

open access: yes, 2017
Visible light communication (VLC) is an emerging technique that uses light-emitting diodes (LED) to combine communication and illumination. It is considered as a promising scheme for indoor wireless communication that can be deployed at reduced costs ...

Person Recognition System Based on a Combination of Body Images from Visible Light and Thermal Cameras

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2017
The human body contains identity information that can be used for the person recognition (verification/recognition) problem. In this paper, we propose a person recognition method using the information extracted from body images.

Stochastic variation in the FOXM1 transcription program mediates replication stress tolerance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cellular heterogeneity is a major cause of drug resistance in cancer. Segeren et al. used single‐cell transcriptomics to investigate gene expression events that correlate with sensitivity to the DNA‐damaging drugs gemcitabine and prexasertib. They show that dampened expression of transcription factor FOXM1 and its target genes protected cells against ...

Integration of Plasmonic Effects and Schottky Junctions into Metal-Organic Framework Composites: Steering Charge Flow for Enhanced Visible-Light Photocatalysis.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2018
A wide range of light absorption and rapid electron-hole separation are desired for efficient photocatalysis. Herein, on the basis of a semiconductor-like metal-organic framework (MOF), a Pt@MOF/Au catalyst with two types of metal-MOF interfaces ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

A new accurate localization method in underground tunnel of coal mine

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2015
In view of problem of low accuracy of localization system based on electromagnetic wave in underground coal mine, an accurate localization method based on visible light communication in underground coal mine was proposed.

Visible Light-Based Human Visual System Conceptual Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
There exists a widely accepted set of assertions in the digital image and video coding literature, which are as follows: the Human Visual System (HVS) is more sensitive to luminance (often confused with brightness) than photon energies (often confused with chromaticity and chrominance). Passages similar to the following occur with high frequency in the

Visible light photocatalytic degradation of microplastic residues with zinc oxide nanorods

open access: yesEnvironmental Chemistry Letters, 2019
Microplastics have recently become a major environmental issue due to their ubiquitous distribution, uncontrolled environmental occurrences, small sizes and long lifetimes.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Indoor Localization Using K-Pairwise Light Emitting Diode Image-Sensor-Based Visible Light Positioning

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
A great deal of research has been devoted to studying indoor localization schemes for the development of location-based services. This study investigated an indoor localization system, including subsystems of nonline-of-sight (NLOS) image-sensor-based ...
