Achromatic Varifocal Metalens for the Visible Spectrum [PDF]
Metasurface optics provide an ultra-thin alternative to conventional refractive lenses. A present challenge is in realizing metasurfaces that exhibit tunable optical properties and achromatic behavior across the visible spectrum. Here, we report the design, fabrication, and characterization of metasurface lenses ("metalenses") that use asymmetric TiO2 ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Gamma-ray bursts from magnetized collisionally-heated jets [PDF]
Jets producing gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are likely to carry a neutron component that drifts with respect to the proton component. The neutron-proton collisions strongly heat the jet and generate electron-positron pairs.

Characterization of a 30 GHz Spaced Astro-Comb Filtered by a Fabry–Pérot Cavity in Vacuum
We demonstrate a compact astro-comb with ~30 GHz line spacing covering the 560–900 nm range, seeded by a 1 GHz Yb:fiber laser frequency comb phase-locked to a rubidium clock for long-term frequency stability. The comb spacing is multiplied by a passively
