Binocular vision in infancy: Responsiveness to uncrossed horizontal disparity
Infant Behavior and Development, 2016This research explored the onset of stereopsis, the ability to perceive depth from the different views provided by the two eyes. In a longitudinal study, infants were tested weekly from 6 to 20 weeks of age. The primary goal of the study was to establish the onset and the early development of sensitivity to uncrossed horizontal disparity.

Disparity estimation based on fusion of vision and LiDAR
International Journal of Wavelets, Multiresolution and Information Processing, 2022Advanced driver assistance systems improve driving safety and comfort by applying onboard sensors to collect environmental data, analyze environmental data and decision making. Therefore, advanced driver assistance systems have high requirements for distance perception of the environment.

The Role of Disparity Gradient in Stereo Vision
Perception, 1985Burt and Julesz experimentally demonstrated that, in addition to Panum's fusional area, a quantity defined by them and named disparity gradient also plays a crucial part in deciding whether the human visual system would be able to fuse the images seen by the left and right eyes.

Robust approach for disparity estimation in stereo vision
Image and Vision Computing, 2004Abstract In this paper, we present a robust probabilistic method for the estimation of stereo disparity. It is based in Bayesian estimation theory, with a prior Markov random field model for the assigned disparities. The optimal estimator is computed using a Gauss-Markov random field model for the corresponding posterior marginals, which results in a

Vertical disparity and binocular vision in the praying mantis
Visual Neuroscience, 1992AbstractWe have investigated how the binocular control of prey capture in the praying mantis is affected by abnormally large vertical disparities, which were introduced by prisms placed in front of the eyes. The position of a target on the two retinae determines both the magnitude of head saccades made to fixate a target and its perceived distance ...

Disparities in Adult Vision Health in the United States
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012To review the existing knowledge on vision health disparities in major adult vision health outcomes (age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataract, refractive errors) and visual impairment and to identify knowledge gaps as related to the development of enhanced vision health surveillance in the United States.Literature ...

Force and vision resolvability for assimilating disparate sensory feedback
IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation, 1996Force and vision sensors provide complementary information, yet they are fundamentally different sensing modalities. This implies that traditional sensor integration techniques that require common data representations are not appropriate for combining the feedback from these two disparate sensor.
