Double Dissociation between Motor and Visual Imagery in the Posterior Parietal Cortex [PDF]

open access: yesCerebral Cortex, 2009
Because motor imagery (MI) and visual imagery (VI) are influenced differently by factors such as biomechanical constraints or stimulus size, it is conceivable that they rely on separate processes, possibly involving distinct cortical networks, a view corroborated by neuroimaging and neuropsychological studies.

fMRI Evidence for Modality-Specific Processing of Conceptual Knowledge on Six Modalities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Traditional theories assume that amodal representations, such as feature lists and semantic networks, represent conceptual knowledge about the world. According to this view, the sensory, motor, and introspective states that arise during perception and ...

Orientation of the opposition axis in mentally simulated grasping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Five normal subjects were tested in a simulated grasping task. A cylindrical container filled with water was placed on the center of a horizontal monitor screen.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Motor Imagery Classification Based on EEG Sensing with Visual and Vibrotactile Guidance

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Motor imagery (MI) is a technique of imagining the performance of a motor task without actually using the muscles. When employed in a brain–computer interface (BCI) supported by electroencephalographic (EEG) sensors, it can be used as a successful method of human–computer interaction.

The influence of internal and external visual imagery on self-confidence in learning gymnastics

open access: yesCakrawala Pendidikan: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan, 2023
Students must have high self-confidence in learning physical education because self-confidence affects individual motor skill performance. The purpose of this study was to reveal differences in the influence of internal and external visual imagery on ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Voluntary movement takes shape. the link between movement focusing and sensory input gating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between motor surround inhibition (mSI) and the modulation of somatosensory temporal discrimination threshold (STDT) induced by voluntary movement.

A robot hand testbed designed for enhancing embodiment and functional neurorehabilitation of body schema in subjects with upper limb impairment or loss. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Many upper limb amputees experience an incessant, post-amputation "phantom limb pain" and report that their missing limbs feel paralyzed in an uncomfortable posture.
