From Free-Standing to Textile Electrodes: Carbonaceous Biocompatible Material for Wearable Sensing. [PDF]

open access: yesHealthc Technol Lett
This work introduces a sustainable and cost‐effective method for fabricating biocompatible carbon‐based electrodes using a custom carbon black–chitosan ink enhanced with carbon nanotubes. These electrodes demonstrate excellent conductivity, mechanical durability, and long‐term biocompatibility with the use of any conductive gel, making them ideal for ...

Geomicrobiology of the Rincon de Parangueo maar crater: Exploring the link between an evolving extreme environment and its potential metabolic diversity

open access: yesFreshwater Biology, Volume 68, Issue 11, Page 1818-1838, November 2023., 2023
Abstract Rincon de Parangueo (RP) is a Quaternary maar crater located in the Michoacan‐Guanajuato Volcanic Field in central Mexico. Like other volcanic craters in the region, the central part was occupied by an endorheic lacustrine system. As a consequence of extensive groundwater extraction, the perennial lake started a gradual desiccation process and

Assigning trend‐based conservation status despite high uncertainty

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 4, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Estimates of temporal trends in species’ occupancy are essential for conservation policy and planning, but limitations to the data and models often result in very high trend uncertainty. A critical source of uncertainty that degrades scientific credibility is that caused by disagreement among studies or models.

Virtual and in Vitro Screening Employing a Repurposing Approach Reveal 13-cis-Retinoic Acid is a PTP1B Inhibitor. [PDF]

open access: yesChemMedChem
A computational screening using cheminformatics and molecular docking has been performed on PTP1B. In vitro assays have revealed that 13‐cis‐retinoic acid is a competitive inhibitor. This is the first report of 13‐cis‐retinoic acid as PTP1B inhibitor, making it a valuable candidate for future research toward its repositioning.
