Intraspecific variation and detectability of iridescence in the dorsal coloration of a wall lizard

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 326, Issue 3, Page 239-255, July 2025.
Wall lizards (genus Podarcis) show substantial intraspecific colour variation and iridescence, which may interact and affect overall colour appearance. Here, we set out to study iridescence in Podarcis liolepis in two localities in which lizards are known to differ in dorsal coloration. Our results show that P.

Rthoptera: Standardised insect bioacoustics in R

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, Page 1084-1094, June 2025.
Abstract Almost 100 years after the dawn of insect bioacoustics, freely available and robust analysis tools and protocols are still needed. We introduce Rthoptera, an open‐source R package designed for robust analysis of insect acoustic signals. It delivers accurate temporal and spectral measurements, along with intuitive visualisations, through a ...

Transcriptomic signatures and network‐based methods uncover new senescent cell anti‐apoptotic pathways and senolytics

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 8, Page 1950-1971, April 2025.
This study identifies new senescent cell antiapoptotic pathways (SCAPs) by analyzing transcriptomic signatures and co‐expression networks. We uncover novel antiapoptotic pathways, called SCAPs, and propose potential senolytic drugs, including Fluorouracil, which targets key SCAPs.

COSST: A tool to facilitate seed provenancing for climate‐smart ecosystem restoration

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 677-688, March 2025.
Our tool can guide where to source seeds for species lacking range‐wide information on genetic structure, which is the case for a substantial proportion of the tropical flora, where ecosystem restoration is of paramount importance. Abstract Selecting the best seed sources is a key step in ecological restoration planning especially under climate change.

Cliquepolitik: Multimodal online discourse coalitions on CRISPR‐Cas genome editing technology

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 50-76, January 2025.
Abstract The influence of visualizations on decision‐making about controversial policy issues is increasingly recognized in the political and policy sciences. In this paper, we explore how combinations of visuals and text on Twitter (now X) lead to the formation of networks of actors sharing similar textual and visual framings about a policy issue in ...

Virtual and in Vitro Screening Employing a Repurposing Approach Reveal 13‐cis‐Retinoic Acid is a PTP1B Inhibitor

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 19, Issue 23, December 2, 2024.
A computational screening using cheminformatics and molecular docking has been performed on PTP1B. In vitro assays have revealed that 13‐cis‐retinoic acid is a competitive inhibitor. This is the first report of 13‐cis‐retinoic acid as PTP1B inhibitor, making it a valuable candidate for future research toward its repositioning.
