On encouraging multiple views for visualization

open access: yes, 1998
Visualization enables 'seeing the unseen', and provides new insight into the underlying data. However users far too easily believe or rely on a single representation of the data; this view may be a favourite method, the simplest to perform, or a method ...

Thermal behavior of a concrete recycling unit during the transition from diesel-fired to electric hot air generator

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
For the advancement of sustainable and cleaner operation in concrete recycling, the Heating Air Classification System (HAS) requires replacing the existing diesel-fired burner with an electric heating technology. This study contributes to that transition

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Multiform Glyph Based Search Result Visualization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Searching for information on the web is hard; the user may not know what they are looking for, they may refine their search from information gathered by preliminary naive searches, and they may be looking for luminous sites that have many external links ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

MRI radiomics captures early treatment response in patient-derived organoid endometrial cancer mouse models

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundRadiomics can capture microscale information in medical images beyond what is visible to the naked human eye. Using a clinically relevant mouse model for endometrial cancer, the objective of this study was to develop and validate a radiomic ...

Analysis and visualization of chromosome information [PDF]

open access: yesGene, 2012
This paper analyzes the DNA code of several species in the perspective of information content. For that purpose several concepts and mathematical tools are selected towards establishing a quantitative method without a priori distorting the alphabet represented by the sequence of DNA bases.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A model and software system for coordinated and multiple views in exploratory visualization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper describes a model for expressing coordination in multiple view visualization systems. We present the model and describe a prototype implementation that illustrates the features of the model.
